Babson Athletics Hall of Fame
A native of Waltham, Massachusetts, Tom Groth is Babson's all-time leading scorer in basketball with an unprecedented 1854 points (19.3 ppg) in 96 career games. A quiet and hard-working leader, his outstanding talents made him effective at both ends of the court. At the time of his graduation, Groth also held the record for most points in a season (580) and most career free throws (374), and he remains Babson's all-time leader in single-season field goals (240). Elected captain during his senior year, Groth helped lead the Beavers to a 15-10 record and a bid to the ECAC Tournament - their first postseason appearance since 1970. He was also presented the prestigious Scholar-Athlete Award, given to the top student-athlete in the college.Â
