Location

The Babson Sports Medicine Department is located in the Bravo Family Sports Medicine Suite on the second floor of the Babson Recreation and Athletic Complex (BRAC). Within the Bravo Family Sports Medicine Suite there is the Mr. Kenneth Romanzi '82 & Dr. Nancy Major Romanzi Rehabilitation Clinic, advanced modality treatment area, Hydro area, which contains two Grimm Recovery Pools, and an examination room. 

Hours of Operation

  • Monday-Friday: 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. or with prior arrangement for therapy sessions
  • Saturday, Sunday and holidays are by appointment. 

Philosophy

In support of the College's primary commitment to developing the students based on a holistic approach, which fosters intellectual, emotional, social, physical and leadership development, the mission of the Sports Medicine Department is to fashion a program founded on integrity, accountability and scientific evidence-based doctrine.

The Sports Medicine staff will strive to provide every student-athlete with the most comprehensive, highest quality individual sports medicine health care available in a professional, efficient, compassionate and service-oriented manner.

A diversified program of prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation will assure a positive healthy recovery experience, an improved quality of life, a safe return to full athletic participation and continued athletic success.

About Dr. Kocher

Dr. Kocher has served as the Team Physician to Babson College Athletics since 2005. He is the Chief of the Division of Sports Medicine and a Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Harvard Medical School.  He is an internationally renowned expert in pediatric orthopedics and sports medicine.

His clinical practice focuses on sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery of the knee, shoulder, hip, elbow, and ankle. He has treated pediatric and adult patients from around the world and many professional sports. He is the team physician for numerous high schools and colleges and is recognized as Best of Boston (Boston Magazine), Best Doctors in America (Best Doctors), among many others.

His research focuses on clinical epidemiology and biostatistics and has been published in several scientific articles, book chapters and textbooks and has received numerous research awards. Dr. Kocher has been featured in the New York TimesScientific AmericanSan Francisco ChronicleBoston GlobeWall Street JournalChicago HeraldABC World News, and Sports Illustrated. He has served in leadership positions with numerous organizations including being elected to the Board of Directors of the AAOS, POSNA, and AOSSM.
