Coming to Babson in 1974, Franz Grueter was a key member of some of the greatest teams in the history of the men's soccer program. In his three seasons wearing the Green and White, the Beavers went a combined 39-6-3, earned two bids to the NCAA Tournament, and in 1975 went 17-0-1 on their way to the school's first-ever national championship. That season, Grueter was selected to both the New England Intercollegiate Division II All-Star Team and the NSCAA All-New England team while also being named Team Co-MVP with teammate and fellow Hall of Famer Jim Powers. In his final season at Babson, Grueter continued to excel, leading the team in scoring for the first time in his career. As a result of his outstanding play, he was named Team MVP, earned All-New England First Team status, and received national All-American honors. Despite playing only three seasons, he still ranks 15th on Babson's all-time scoring list with 17 goals and 17 assists for 51 career points.
