Two years after leading his team to the Division III Final Four for the first time, head coach Stephen Brennen helped men's basketball become just the third New England program in 42 years to win a national title in 2017. Led by two-time National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Player of the Year Joey Flannery '17 and a senior class that won 103 career games, the Beavers went 31-2 and were the nation's top-ranked team for the final nine weeks of the regular season. After overcoming a 25-point first-half deficit in the national semifinals, the Green and White defeated Augustana, 79-78, thanks to a last-second block by Flannery in the championship game.
