Babson College

A native of Watertown, Massachusetts, Jim Pierrakos remains one of the most dominant players in Babson basketball history. A devastating force on the inside, Pierrakos is the school's all-time career leader in both rebounds (936) and free throws made (419), while his 1,597 points place him fifth on Babson's career scoring list. A four-year letter winner, Pierrakos enjoyed his finest season in 1991-92, when he captained the Beavers to a magical 22-4 season that saw them earn their first-ever bid to the NCAA Tournament. That year, the team was ranked number one in New England and number five in the country after a regular season that included a 20-point victory over Division I Harvard. Due in large part to Pierrakos' play, Babson went on to win the Constitution Athletic Conference title before recording its only loss of the season to a New England Division III team in the NCAA Tournament. Averaging 16.5 points and 9.4 rebounds per game that year, Pierrakos was named the Player of the Year by the CAC and the New England Player of the Year by ECAC and the NABC. He was also chosen as the Babson Athlete of the Year, and was named a First Team NABC All-American. Following his graduation from Babson in 1992, Pierrakos went on to play six years of professional basketball in Greece.
