Baseball Concludes Road Swing at Trinity on Wednesday and Nichols on Thursday

WHAT TO KNOW

•    Babson concludes a stretch of five straight games on the road when it travels to Hartford, Conn., to take on Trinity on Wednesday afternoon and Dudley, Mass., to take on Nichols on Thursday. 

SERIES HISTORY
vs. Trinity

•    Babson and the Bantams will meet for the second year in a row on Wednesday afternoon.
•    The Beavers are 9-12 all-time against Trinity in a series that dates back to 1992. 
•    The Green and White has won three of the last four games between the teams dating back to the 2019 NCAA Tournament.
•    Senior Zander Teator went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI, sophomore Gabe Cushner drove in two runs and classmate Chase Burrows allowed three runs over 7.0 innings as the Beavers erased an early 3-1 deficit to beat the Bantams 6-3 on April 2, 2025, in Babson Park. 

vs. Nichols
•    The Beavers are 9-14 all-time versus the Bison in a series that dates back to 1971. 
•    Thursday's matchup will be just the third between Babson and Nichols since 2008 and just the fourth matchup between the teams going back to 1988.
•    Brant Savage '24 M'25 hit an early two-run homer, four players finished with multiple hits and Tristen Spalter '24 M'25 struck out two over six shutout innings as the Beavers defeated Nichols, 7-0, on March 22, 2023, in Babson Park. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    Babson (9-7) has won five consecutive games and seven of its last eight outings after beating Wheaton 7-3 on Tuesday afternoon. 
•    Graduate student Ryan Grace, junior Ryan Liss and sophomore Ben Valente all homered, and junior Jason Finkelstein allowed two runs over 7.0 innings for the Beavers, who had nine different players record at least one hit in the victory. 
•    Grace is batting .375 with four homers, five doubles, 19 RBI and 16 runs scored, first-year Bobby Christensen is hitting .375 with three extra-base hits, nine RBI and eight runs scored, and Liss has four doubles, a triple, three home runs, 14 runs batted in and 13 runs scored this spring. 
•    Senior James Clark (2-2, 5.79 ERA) has recorded 12 strikeouts in 14.0 innings over four starts, Teator (2.25 ERA) has three saves while recording seven strikeouts in 4.0 innings out of the bullpen, and junior Tristan Pearl (0-0) boasts a 2.45 ERA to go along with seven strikeouts in 7.1 innings pitched over three appearances out of the bullpen this spring. 

SCOUTING THE BANTAMS
•    Trinity (11-4) had its three-game winning streak snapped on Saturday afternoon when it dropped the finale of a three-game series to Bates, 10-4. 
•    Aidan Stevenson went 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI, Timothy Domizio was 2-for-3 with a triple, three walks and three runs scored, and Andrew Park singled twice for the Bantams, who walked 11 times but stranded 12 men on base in the loss. 
•    Stevenson is batting .422 with a home run, six doubles, 17 RBI and eight runs scored, Domizio is hitting .412 with five doubles, two triples, two homers, 12 RBI and 17 runs scored, and Tyler Bernstein checks in at .340 with four homers, 17 runs batted in and 17 runs scored this spring. 
•    Quintin Sotero (1-0, 2.00 ERA) is holding opposing batters to a .129 average over 9.0 innings, Matthew Limongelli (1-0, 2.89 ERA) has 11 strikeouts and is limiting opposing hitters to a .167 average in 9.1 innings pitched, and Tyler Fahey is 2-0 with two saves, a 4.40 earned run average and 12 strikeouts in 14.1 innings over nine relief appearances. 

SCOUTING THE BISON
•    Nichols (8-8) has split its last six games and is coming off a 14-4 loss at Western New England on Tuesday. 
•    Andrew Rocca went 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI, and Anthony Hackert and Julian Galvan both singled and knocked in a run for the Bison, which saw eight pitchers combine to allow 15 hits and walk five batters against the Golden Bears. 
•    Rocca is hitting .391 with seven extra-base hits, 11 RBI and 12 runs scored, Hackert is batting .306 with four doubles, 13 RBI and 13 runs scored, and Collin Harty owns a .288 average to go along with four home runs, two doubles, 16 RBI and 13 runs scored. 
•    Ashton Hammond is 1-0 with a 3.68 ERA and seven strikeouts in 7.1 innings, Rocca is 1-0 with a 4.32 earned run average and 11 strikeouts in 8.1 innings over seven relief appearances, and Tony Abed is 1-0 with a 6.14 ERA in 7.1 innings of work this spring. 

STRONG STARTS
•    Over the first three games of its current road swing, all three Babson starting pitchers have gone at least seven innings while allowing two runs or fewer. 
•    Graduate student Joe Carrea struck out five and gave up two runs over 8.0 innings in a 5-2 win over Coast Guard in game one of last Sunday's doubleheader, while Burrows allowed one run over 8.0 innings and recorded a career-high seven strikeouts as the Beavers completed a sweep with a 9-6 victory over the Bears. 
•    After tossing just 9.1 innings over three appearances to start the season, Finkelstein fanned two and scattered seven hits and gave up just two runs over 7.0 innings in Tuesday's victory at Wheaton. 

STREAKING BEAVERS
•    Valente enters Wednesday's contest at Trinity riding a seven-game hitting streak, Cushner and Grace both have at least one hit in six straight outings, and Liss extended his hitting streak to four with a pair of knocks on Tuesday.
•    Grace has reached base safely in all 16 games this spring, Christensen and sophomore Dylan Drazka have been on base in nine straight contests, and Teator has reached safely in his eight seven outings. 
•    The Beavers have multiple extra-base hits in each of their last eight games going back to March 18 and have drawn at least three walks in seven straight contests. 

BABSON TRENDS
•    During its current five-game winning streak, Liss and Valente have both homered twice and are among a group of eight different players with at least four RBI. 
•    Grace leads the team with seven multi-RBI games and both he and Christensen have recorded a team-high seven multi-hit games this spring. 
•    Drazka has yet to strikeout in 58 plate appearances this spring is one of four Division III players with at least 40 at-bats and no strikeouts this spring. 
•    The Beavers are batting .348 with runners in scoring position over the last five games entering Wednesday's visit to Trinity, and Cushner, Christensen and junior Dante D'Avanzo have all recorded three two-out RBI during this stretch.
•    Carrea ranks 20th in Division III in WHIP (0.86), Burrows is 28th in walks per nine innings (1.11) and Teator is tied for 29th with his three saves. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    Over its last five games the Babson pitching staff boasts a 3.14 ERA and has held opposing hitters to a .247 average while issuing just 10 walks over 43.0 innings. 
•    The Beavers are 8-1 this season and 28-4 going back to the start of the 2025 campaign when scoring six or more runs. 
•    Babson is 8-3 this spring when recording at least two extra-base hits. 
•    The Green and White is 5-1 on the year when allowing five runs or fewer.
