Baseball's Finkelstein Named to the ABCA Region I All-Defensive Team

ABCA Release

BABSON PARK, Mass.—
Babson College junior Jason Finkelstein (Walpole, Mass.) added to his postseason awards haul when he was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Region I All-Defensive Team on Thursday afternoon.

The teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Div. III All-America & Coach of the Year Committee. Finkelstein is the second Babson pitcher in as many years to be named to the Region I All-Defensive Team after sophomore Chase Burrows (Cream Ridge, N.J.) was recognized in 2025.

Finkelstein put together the best season of his career going 5-2 with one save, a 3.23 ERA and 51 strikeouts in 61.1 innings pitched over 12 appearances on the mound. He recorded the lowest ERA and WHIP (1.16) of his career, held opposing batters to a .203 average and ranked 31st in Division III allowing 6.60 hits per nine innings.

Finkelstein was at his best late in the season going 4-0 with a 1.70 ERA, a 0.97 WHIP and 34 strikeouts in 37.0 innings while holding opposing batters to a .183 average over his final five starts to earn all-region recognition for the first time in his career. He also allowed just three extra-base hits during this stretch and just six doubles and two home runs on the year.

An All-New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) first-team selection and an ABCA Region II second-team honoree, Finkelstein allowed just two homers and eight extra-base hits on the year, and did not make an error in 10 chances recording six assists and four putouts.

A two-time all-league selection, Finkelstein is 16-7 with a 3.84 earned run average and 143 strikeouts over 173.1 innings pitched over three seasons at Babson. He is tied for fourth on the program's career wins list and ranks sixth in strikeouts.

The Beavers captured their second NEWMAC championship in the past three seasons and recorded their first NCAA Tournament win since 2019 on the way to finishing the year at 27-17.
