WHAT TO KNOW
• The Babson baseball team will travel to San Antonio, Texas, to open the season with a three-game series against No. 1/6 Trinity for the seventh time since 2017 beginning on Friday night.
• The Beavers visit to Texas will be their first since 2024 after starting last year's campaign in Lexington, Ky.
SERIES HISTORY
• Babson is 7-11 all-time against Trinity in a series that dates back to 2017.
• The Beavers have dropped five of their last six games versus the Tigers going back to 2023 but nine of the 18 contests between the programs over the last eight years have been decided by either one or two runs.
• The Green and White has taken two of out of three against Trinity on two occasions (2020, 2022), while the Tigers have won the series three times (2017, 2019, 2023) and are coming off a three-game sweep in 2024.
LAST MEETING
• Jackson Teer struck out 14 and allowed just one hit over seven shutout innings and Jack Peterson went 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI and as Trinity defeated Babson, 16-6, in the finale of a three-game series on February 25, 2024, in San Antonio.
• Alex Monson produced a three-run triple in the first inning and drove in four runs on the day, while Christian Holloway went 2-for-3 with two RBI for the Tigers, who recorded seven extra-base hits in the win.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Babson (0-0) returns 25 players from a team that finished 23-13 overall after falling to MIT in the opening round of the NEWMAC Tournament.
• Despite graduating all four starters in the infield, the Beavers return two of their top three hitters in Teator, who earned all-region and all-conference accolades after batting .386 with 11 doubles, four home runs, a team-high 34 RBI and two runs scored, and junior
Ryan Liss, who hit .325 with 10 doubles, five homers, 29 RBI and a team-high 34 runs scored in 35 starts.

Gabe Cushner batted .338 with four doubles, two home runs, 10 RBI and 18 runs scored in 23 starts behind the plate, while junior
Jack Moses hit .275 with four doubles, a homer and 13 runs batted in over 18 games.

Chase Burrows (4-1, 3.26 ERA, 47.0 IP), junior
Jason Finkelstein (3-2, 3.30 ERA, 46.1 IP) and senior
James Clark (2-2, 5.56 ERA, 43.2 IP) led the team in innings pitched and combined to start 20 games, while Teator made 15 appearances out of the bullpen recording six saves and 14 strikeouts in 16.2 innings while finishing the year with a 2.16 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
• No. 1 D3baseball.com/No. 6 ABCA Trinity (3-1) followed up a 6-2 loss with three straight wins over then-No. 1/1 Wisconsin-Whitewater to open the season last weekend.
• Kaleb Woodward hit .625 (10-for-16) with two doubles and two runs batted in, Will Baker batted .357 (5-for-14) with a double and five RBI, and Jake Beck (1-0) struck out five and allowed just one run over 6.1 innings in his first start for the Tigers, who registered a pair of one-run victories over the Warhawks in the final two games of the series.
• Despite losing its top four run producers from a team that went 41-10 and reached the College World Series in 2025, Trinity brings back a number of veterans led by Woodward, who batted .322 with 10 doubles, four triples, four homers, 34 RBI and 69 runs scored, Will Baker, who hit .293 with nine doubles and 32 RBI in 42 games and Cam Champness, who finished with a .322 average, eight extra-base hits and 17 RBI in 35 contests.
• Jace Clay went 5-2 with a 3.55 ERA and 61 strikeouts in 66.0 innings, Brandon Morio (7-1, 2.77 ERA) struck out 48 in 48.2 innings over 15 appearances and the duo of Will Helllings (4-1, 5.66 ERA, 41.1 IP) and Will Taylor (7-0, 2.37 ERA, 38.0 IP) combined for eight saves last spring.
POLL POSITION
• Despite losing the opening round of last year's conference tournament, Babson was picked to finish third in the NEWMAC preseason coaches' poll earlier this month.
• The Beavers totaled 51 points coming in just five points behind second-place Coast Guard, while No. 9/10 Salve Regina, the reigning NEWMAC Tournament and regular season champions, claimed seven of nine first-place votes to finish atop the poll with 63 points.
TEATOR EARNS PRESEASON RECOGNITION
• Coming off one of the best two-way seasons in program history in 2025, Teator was named to the D3baseball.com Preseason All-America Second Team back in January.
• An ABCA and D3baseball.com all-region second-team honoree and All-NEWMAC first-team choice last spring, Teator led the Green and White with 11 multi-RBI games and was first on the team in OPS (1.142), slugging percentage (.670) and on-base percentage (.472).
• He also struck out 14 and walked just five batters while holding opposing hitters to a .200 average in 16.2 innings pitched over 15 relief appearances.
ARMS AT THE READY
• In addition to the trio of Burrows, Finkelstein and Clark, the Green and White returns a number of pitchers that saw action in high-leverage situations last season.
• Senior
Connor Doan (3-0, 1.86 ERA) made 10 of his career-high 11 appearances out of the bullpen in 2025 and is 6-2 with a 4.34 ERA in 74.2 career innings pitched.
• Sophomore
Dillon James (0-0) tossed 18.0 innings over 10 appearances, including two starts, classmate
Bobby Burk (0-0) allowed just five hits in 8.2 innings of work and junior
Tristan Pearl was effective in two appearances out of the bullpen going 2-0 with a 1.83 ERA and a 0.43 WHIP.
EXPERIENCED VETERANS
• The trio of seniors
Ryan Hvozdovic and
Owen Stephens and junior
Alexander Wilson enter the 2026 campaign looking to carve out a role in the everyday lineup.
• Hvozdovic is a career .283 hitter with 11 doubles, four homers, 44 RBI and 47 runs scored in 74 games, while Wilson is batting .286 with nine doubles, two homers, 29 RBI, 32 runs scored and 13 stolen bases in 43 contests over his first two seasons.
• Stephens, who started three games in the outfield a year ago, may also see time at third base after hitting .267 with a double and two RBI last spring.
STREAKING BEAVERS
• Liss enters the 2026 campaign having reached base safely in 30 consecutive games going back to a win over Coe on March 15 of last season, and put together a pair of eight-game hitting streaks in 2025.
• Finkelstein, who earned All-NEWMAC second-team honors last season, has recorded at least one strikeout in 17 consecutive appearances on the mound and in 23 of his career games.
WORKING THE PORTAL
• After graduating a number of veterans, Babson has bolstered its roster with the addition of five graduate transfers for the 2026 campaign in infielder
Ryan Grace (Colby) and pitchers
Michael Camardi (Farmingdale State),
Joe Carrea (UConn),
Cal Place (Union) and
Cooper Smith (Stetson).
• Camardi went 4-1 with a 1.71 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 31.2 innings last spring while earning all-region and all-conference honors at Farmingdale State.
• Carrea made 24 appearance out of the bullpen for UConn in 2023 and 2024, Smith appeared in 31 games and recorded 42 strikeouts in 42.1 innings over three seasons at Stetson, and Place comes to Babson after making 24 appearances on the mound at Union.
• Grace was a three-year starter for Colby, which advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2024, batting .321 with 37 doubles, 14 home runs, 103 RBI and 101 runs scored in 107 career games.
NUMBERS TO KNOW
• Head coach
Matt Noone, who enters his 24th season leading program, has amassed 525 career wins and has led the Beavers to at least 23 wins in each of the last eight full seasons, excluding 2020 and 2021, going back to the 2016 campaign.
• Babson went 20-3 in 2025 when scoring at least six runs.
• The Green and White has gone 42-9 since the start of the 2024-25 campaign when allowing five runs or fewer.
• The Beavers are 45-1 over the last two seasons when leading after seven innings.
