BABSON PARK, Mass.—The Babson College baseball team was picked to finish in third place when the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced its preseason coaches' poll on Friday morning.
Defending regular season and tournament champion Salve Regina received seven of the nine first-place votes to finish at the top of the poll while regular season runner-up Coast Guard earned the remaining top votes and ended up second in the voting. Babson was third ahead of tournament runner-up MIT while Wheaton finished fifth in the poll for the nine-team conference.
Led by 24th-year head coach
Matt Noone, the Beavers return five starters and 25 veterans from last year's squad that finished 23-13 overall and 8-8 in conference play. The Green and White advanced to the NEWMAC Tournament for the 26th consecutive season but were eliminated in the first round by MIT.
The Beavers open the 2026 campaign with a trip to San Antonio for a three-game series at No. 9/6 Trinity (Texas) from February 27-March 1.
