Chase Burrows (Cream Ridge, N.J.) was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Region I All-Defensive team late last week.
The teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Div. III All-America & Coach of the Year Committee.
Burrows put together a terrific rookie season going 4-1 with a 3.26 earned run average and 18 strikeouts against just two walks in 47.0 innings of work. He finished the year with a 0.98 WHIP and allowed just nine extra-base hits while holding opposing hitters to a .250 average over 12 appearances on the hill.
Burrows ranked first in Division III in walks allowed per nine innings (0.38), was fifth in strikeout-to-walk ratio (9.00) and ranked 22nd nationally in WHIP. He allowed just one stolen base and did not make an error in 16 chances, recording 12 assists and four putouts.
The team leader in wins and innings pitched, Burrows won his first four decisions and allowed one run over 3.2 innings in his collegiate debut to help the Beavers defeat Baldwin Wallace 5-4 on March 2. His longest out of the year came on May 3 when he allowed just one earned run over 7.1 innings of relief in a 5-4 loss at Springfield.
Babson concluded its season at 23-13 after falling to MIT in the opening round of the NEWMAC Tournament.
