BOSTON—Babson College head baseball coach
Matt Noone was inducted into the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) Hall of Fame prior to the 50th Annual Joe Walsh All-Star Game earlier this month.
Noone was joined as part of the five man induction class by longtime Massachusetts Maritime Academy Director of Athletics and former baseball coach Bob Corradi, current Harvard University and former Trinity College baseball coach Bill Decker, former University of Connecticut head baseball coach J.O. Christian, and Eddie Pellagrini, who led played for the Boston Red Sox before leading Boston College to three College World Series appearances as the Eagles' head coach from 1957-88.
Noone is one of 29 members of the NEIBA Hall of Fame, which enshrined its inaugural class back in 2017. To be eligible for induction, a nominee must have coached and completed at least 15 years of active service within NEIBA, contributed significantly to the advancement of college baseball in New England, and made professional and personal contributions to the organization.
Noone, who just completed his 23rd season at Babson, owns a 525-338-2 career record, which is good for a .608 winning percentage. He has guided the Beavers to five New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) championships, six NCAA Tournament appearances and seven seasons with at least 25 wins since arriving in Babson Park prior to the 2003 campaign.
Noone led Babson to its first NEWMAC title during his second season in 2004 and the program's first NCAA Tournament win in 2009 before beginning an unprecedented run of success over the last decade beginning with a trip to the conference finals in 2016. His 2017 squad won the first of two straight NEWMAC championships and advanced to the first NCAA regional final in school history, the Beavers won 35 games and reached their second consecutive NCAA regional title game in 2018, and then set a school record with 39 wins while advancing to the College World Series in 2019.

After reaching the conference final in both 2021 and 2023, Noone helped his 2024 squad win three straight elimination games on the way to claiming its first NEMWAC Tournament crown since 2018 while reaching the 30-win mark for the third time in program history.
A two-time conference and regional coach of the year, Noone's players have earned 70 all-conference, 63 all-region, six American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and D3baseball.com All-America awards, and two Rawlings Gold Glove awards during his time at Babson.
In addition to his success on the field at Babson, Noone recently finished a two-year term as ABCA President at the end of 2024 after previously joining the Board of Directors as the NCAA Division III Chair and serving as one of the organizations vice presidents since 2020. He also has held numerous leadership roles with NEIBA during his time at Babson, and was selected as the organization's Jack Butterfield Award winner in 2017, which is presented to an active New England coach who exhibits the integrity and dedication to the game of college baseball that Coach Butterfield demonstrated throughout his career.
A 1990 graduate of Princeton University, Noone spent 12 years as the pitching coach at Northeastern University prior to arriving at Babson. He also served as the head coach of the Bourne Braves in the prestigious Cape Cod League after gaining experience as the pitching coach for both Bourne and the Hyannis Mets.
