Men's Lacrosse Travels to Nichols for Fourth Straight Road Game on Tuesday Night

SERIES HISTORY

•    Babson is 17-10 all-time against Nichols in a series that dates back to 1967.
•    The Beavers won 17 consecutive games between the teams from 1977-93. 
•    Tuesday's matchup will be the first in 31 years between the programs. 

LAST MEETING
•    The Beavers defeated Nichols, 10-7, on March 27, 1993, in Babson Park. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    Babson (1-2) suffered its second consecutive one-goal loss falling 14-13 at No. 19 Williams on Saturday afternoon. 
•    First-year Seamus Rooney scored four times, senior Topher Bower finished with two goals and two assists and junior Alex Fascilla came off the bench to make a career-high 13 saves over the final three quarters for the Beavers, who used a six-goal run to take a 12-10 lead early in the fourth quarter. 
•    Rooney (12-3-15) has produced four goals in three consecutive games, Bower (4-9-13) leads the team in assists and graduate student Jared Rainville (8-3-11) has two multi-goal outings over the first three contests. 
•    Graduate student James Turco and senior Grey Sunderland have combined to win 61 percent of their face-offs, junior Gavin Bailey has a team-high five caused turnovers to go along with six ground balls, and Fascilla has posted a 10.96 goals against average and a .564 save percentage over the last two games. 

SCOUTING THE BISON 
•    Nichols (3-0) is off to its best start since 2018 after defeating Emmanuel, 10-7, on Saturday afternoon. 
•    Blake Covell (3g, 1a) and Jack Ellis (1g, 3a) contributed four points apiece, Travis Arnold won 13-of-19 face-offs and Brady Morgan made 11 of his 14 saves in the second half for the Bison, which raced out to a 6-1 lead and put the game away with three goals in a span of less than three minutes midway through the fourth quarter. 
•    Conor Doherty (6-1-7) has two multi-goal games, Ellis (3-4-7) leads the team in assists and Covell (5-1-6) has notched a pair of man-up goals. 
•    Arnold has won 64.9 percent of his face-offs, Cooper Melvin leads the defense with seven caused turnovers and six ground balls and Morgan boasts a 6.85 goals against average and a .661 save percentage in three starts on the year. 

DOWN TO THE WIRE
•    Going back to late April of last season, five of the Beavers' last eight games have been decided by a single goal. 
•    Babson beat MIT in its regular season finale and followed it up with conference tournament wins over Coast Guard and the Engineers all by the score of 15-14. 
•    This season, the Green and White has fallen to both No. 11/13 Union and No. 19 Williams, 14-13. 

STREAKING BEAVERS
•    Rainville, who transferred from Connecticut College, has at least one goal in 30 straight games and a point in 31 consecutive outings. 
•    Sophomore Bennett Smith enters Tuesday's contest with an assist in 11 consecutive games. 
•    Bower and senior Jacob Tauss have points in seven games in a row, while fellow senior Christian Brofft has a goal in five straight contests. 

END OF THE ROAD
•    Tuesday's contest is the last of four straight road games to open the season and will be Babson's sixth consecutive contest away from home going back to last May's NCAA Tournament.
•    Babson is 7-5 in road and neutral field games since the start of last season with all five of the losses coming against nationally-ranked opponents. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    The Beavers, who rank 28th in Division III in scoring offense, have scored 13 or more goals in 10 of their last 11 games. 
•    Babson is 1-0 this season and 27-2 going back to the start of the 2020 campaign when leading at halftime.
•    The Green and White is 1-1 on the year and 11-3 since the beginning of last season when winning at least half of the face-offs. 
•    The Beavers are 4-4 in games decided by two goals or fewer over the last two seasons.
