SERIES HISTORY
• Babson is 4-1 all-time against Salve Regina in a series that dates back to 2009, with the Seahawks' only win coming in the series debut in 2009 in Babson Park.
• The Beavers captured back-to-back victories in 2010 and 2011 and again in 2024 and 2025 but did not meet in between.
• The Green and White are 2-0 against the Seahawks in Rhode Island with wins in 2010 and 2024.

LAST GAME
• Junior Seamus Rooney tallied two goals and two assists and Brendan Maher '25 caused three turnovers and scooped up five ground balls as No. 20 Babson upended Salve Regina, 14-8, on April 12, 2025, at rainy MacDowell Field.
• Junior Sam Sisk scored three times and grabbed four ground balls, classmate Rowan Mondello contributed two goals and an assist, and fellow juniors Anthony Stillwell and Camden Matthews and senior Braden Reilly chipped in with two points apiece for the Beavers. Tripp Clark M'25 caused three turnovers, senior Will Reading won 11-of-20 face-offs and collected eight ground balls, and three Babson goalies combined for 11 saves in the victory.
• Sophomore Heath Sumwalt scored four goals to lead the Seahawks, Liam Cooney M'25 had two goals, and seniors Chris Koltzan, Daniel Naglieri and Casey Johnson finished with two points apiece. Gavin Johnson '25 was strong on defense for Salve with five caused turnovers an d five ground balls, Andrew Senecal '25 had two CTs and five GBs, and Clifton Haverly '25 won 12-of-20 face-offs with five ground balls. Andrew Hazard made 12 saves in goal in the setback.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Babson (8-1, 2-0 NEWMAC), ranked sixth in Division III by the USILA and USA Lacrosse Magazine, was handed its first loss of the season to No. 2/2 Bowdoin on Tuesday evening at MacDowell Field.
• Sophomore Andrew Almquistwas outstanding in the Babson goal, making 15 saves. Graduate student Joey Allen scored three goals and senior Bennett Smith added a goal and two assists for the Beavers. Senior Tyee Ambrosh caused three turnovers and scooped up three ground balls, and grad student Mason Dorr collected three ground balls in the setback.
• The Beavers boast a balanced offense with Smith (15-15-30), Allen (19-9-28), Reilly (9-14-23) and Matthews (15-6-21) all with at least 20 points through nine games, and Rooney (14-5-19) and McAleavey (13-1-14) with double-digit goals. Burns has a 71.8 success rate (112-156) on face-offs and leads the team with 81 ground balls.
• Ambrosh (12 caused turnovers, 14 ground balls) and Dorr (9 CTs, 15 GBs) anchor the Beaver defense, and Almquist has posted an 9.36 goals against average and a .581 save percentage with 115 saves in nine starts between the pipes this season.

SCOUTING THE SEAHAWKS
• Salve Regina (6-2, 1-1 NEWMAC) had a two-game winning streak snapped with a tight 12-9 loss at MIT last Saturday in Cambridge.
• Naglieri led the Seahawks with two goals and two assists, Johnson scored a team-high three goals, Sumwalt added a pair of scores, and senior Christopher Bethoney and Koltzan produced a goal and two assists apiece. Junior goalie Griffin Caiozzo was a menace on the defensive end with two caused turnovers, five ground balls and 16 saves, and sophomore TJ Carlo chipped in with two caused turnovers and three ground balls.
• Naglieri (27-11-38) is in the top four in the NEWMAC in goals and points and Koltzan (19-15-34) is top-seven in goals, assists and points. Johnson (16-4-20) and Sumwalt (12-3-15) are double-digit goals scorers, and Bethoney (2-8-10) is third on the team in assists. The Seahawks have a solid duo in face-offs in senior Adam Laber (56-105, .538) and Nate Strassberger (53-89, .596).
• Senior Carson Van Winkle (11 CT, 19 GB) and sophomore Luke Castillo (10 CT, 19 GB) backbone the Salve defense in front of Caiozzo, who is second in the NEWMAC with an 8.68 goals against average and a .593 save percentage in seven starts.

BURNS EARNS CONFERENCE AND NATIONAL RECOGNITION
• After a historic performance against Springfield last Saturday, Burns earned his third consecutive New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Face-Off Specialist of the Week honor on Monday.
• Burns was also named to the US Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Team of the Week on Tuesday for the second time this season.
• Burns won 20-of-21 face-offs and picked up 15 ground balls, the best showing for a Babson player since Conor Maloney went 20-for-20 on face-offs with 10 GBs in a win over New England College on March 11, 2015.

CLIMBING THE CHARTS
• Smith has climbed into a tie with Topher Bower '25 for third place on the career assist list with 90 assists, and a tie for ninth with Samuel Mishkind '19 on Babson's career scoring list with 157 points.
• Rooney has moved up to a tie for 15th on the program's career goal scoring list with 80 goals, matching the total of Chris Darmon '01 and Todd McDowell '03. Rooney is also tied with Brad Otis '00 for 16th on the career points list with 124.

BEAVER BITES
• Rooney extended his point streak to 28 games going back to last season with a goal and an assists against Bowdoin.
•Smith and grad student Patrick McAleavey are the only two Beavers who have points in all nine games.
• Smith has at least three points in six straight and eight of nine games this season.
Tyee Ambrosh has at least one caused turnover in seven of his last eight games after forcing a career -high three turnovers vs. Bowdoin.
• Burns is 14th in Division III with a 71.8 face-off winning percentage and 20th with 9.00 ground balls per game.

BEAVERS JOIN SALVE REGINA IN FACING OFF AGAINST CANCER
•    Babson will be part of Salve Regina's Face Off Against Cancer Awareness Game on Saturday night, which has special significance for the Seahawks as assistant coach Dave Haddeland is currently battling colon cancer
•    March is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, dedicated to increasing screening rates, promoting prevention, and supporting those affected by the second leading cause of cancer deaths in the U.S. Key initiatives include "Dress in Blue Day" to raise awareness and urging everyone 45 and older to get screened. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Green and White have won 22 in a row since the start of last year when scoring at least 10 goals.
• The Beavers are 6-1 this season and 17-3 going back to last spring when holding a lead at halftime.
• Since the start of the 2024 campaign, Babson is 32-3 when winning at least 50 percent of its face-offs. 
• Going back to 2023, the Beavers are 21-6 in the month of March.
