BABSON PARK, Mass.—Three Babson College women's basketball student-athletes were honored by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) with Academic All-District recognition on Tuesday afternoon.
Senior
Madison Odam (San Jose, Calif.), junior
Katelyn Mollica (Foxborough, Mass.) and sophomore
Chloe Perreault (Danbury, Conn.) all received Academic All-District honors for the first time in their careers. All three are now eligible for the Academic All-America team, which will be announced next month.
Since 1952, CSC (formerly CoSIDA) has honored more than 20,000 outstanding student-athletes across the NCAA. To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve and maintain a GPA of 3.50 on a 4.0 scale.
A Finance major, Odam played in 27 of the team's 28 games this season with three starts, averaging 3.2 points and 43.0 rebounds. She shot 38.7 percent from the field and drained 12-of-35 from three-point range (.343) in 11.9 minutes per game. She scored a season-high 15 points in an 83-69 victory over Salve Regina on January 20 and collected a season-high seven rebounds in a 56-45 triumph over Middlebury on December 1.
A Marketing major, Mollica was the only player on the team to start all 28 games and finished second on the team in scoring with 12.6 points per game. She set a Babson single-season record with 68 successful 3-point baskets and ranked fourth in the NEWMAC in 3-pointers and seventh in 3-point field goal percentage. She connected on 39.3 percent on all of her field goal attempts and 81.8 percent from the free throw line. Mollica scored in double figures in 19 games this year, including a season-high 23 points in contests against both Susquehanna and Clark, and converted at least one 3-pointer in all but one outing, including a season-high five three in four different games.
An undecided major, Perreault appeared in all 28 games this season with 22 starts, averaging 6.5 points and 5.6 rebounds per game, finishing second on the team in rebounding and fifth in scoring. She shot 47.3 percent from the field and converted 17-of-47 3-point field goals (.362), finishing eighth in the NEWMAC in field goal percentage. She scored a season-high 17 points against Roger Williams and grabbed a season-high 10 rebounds three times.
Babson finished the season with a 15-13 record this winter after advancing to the NEWMAC Tournament final for the third year in a row.
