Three from Women’s Hoops Receive CSC Academic All-District Honors

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Three Babson College women's basketball student-athletes were honored by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) with Academic All-District recognition on Tuesday afternoon.

Seniors Katelyn Mollica (Foxborough, Mass.) and Camilla Silk (Medfield, Mass.) and junior Chloe Perreault (Danbury, Conn.) were recognized for the Beavers. Mollica and Perreault received the accolade for the second consecutive season while Silk is a first-time honoree. All three are now eligible for the Academic All-America team, which will be announced next month.

Since 1952, CSC has honored more than 40,000 outstanding student-athletes across the NCAA. To be eligible, a student-athlete maintain a GPA of 3.50 on a 4.0 scale and must compete in 90 percent of the institution's games.

A Supply Chain Management major, Mollica earned New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) third team and D3hoops.com all-region third team recognition this season. She started all 26 games and led the Beavers and finished fifth in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) in scoring with a career-high 15.0 points per game. She topped the league in 3-point baskets per game (3.6) and ranked among the league leaders in overall field goal percentage (.422, seventh) and 3-point field goal percentage (.433, second).  She set program records for 3-pointers in a season (94) and career (218) and ranked second in Division III with a single-season program record 94 three-point field goals. She finished her career with 1,035 points, 18th on the program's all-time scoring list.

A Business major, Perreault appeared in all 26 games with two starts, averaging 5.4 points and 3.5 rebounds while shooting 43.1 percent from the floor and 35.1 percent from beyond the arc. She made at least one three-pointer in eight of Babson's final 10 games and averaged 9.0 points on 50 percent shooting (16-of-32) over the Beavers' final five contests.

A Marketing major, Silk started 24 of her 25 games this season and finished with 7.1 points and 6.7 rebounds per game while shooting 53.2 percent from the field. She ranked fourth on the team in scoring and second in rebounding and led the squad in field goal percentage. She reached double figures in scoring in six outings, with a season-high 15 points in the win over Brandeis, and had double-digit rebounds in six games as well, with a season high of 13 against Maine Maritime and Clark.

Babson finished the season with a 16-10 record this winter, including 8-3 in conference play, and advanced to the NEWMAC Tournament quarterfinals.
