Weekend Preview: Men's Basketball Welcomes Local Rival Lasell to Staake Gymnasium for Two-Game Series

SERIES HISTORY
• Babson is 14-3 all-time against Lasell in a series that dates back to 1998.
• The Beavers have won the last seven meetings against the Lasers, which includes three consecutive double-digit victories at home.
• Eight of the 17 matchups between Babson and Lasell have been decided by five points or less.

LAST MEETING
• Senior Andrew Jaworski finished with 28 points and 11 rebounds to help Babson defeat Lasell, 93-70, on November 13, 2019, in Newton, Mass.
Frank Oftring '20 scored 18 points on 9-of-12 shooting for the Beavers, who shot 53.7 percent in the win.
• Kevin Nunez poured in 26 points for the Lasers, who cut a 24-point deficit down to 10 with less than nine minutes to go in the second half.

SCOUTING THE LASERS
• Lasell (0-0) returns nine players in all and four starters from a team that finished 10-17 after reaching the GNAC Tournament semifinals last winter.
• Junior EJ Day averaged 25.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.8 after joining the program last January, senior Kevin Nunez (16.1 pts, 4.8 reb) shot 45.1 percent from the floor, and classmate Kevin Vanderhorst (15.9 pts, 10.3 reb) recorded 15 double-doubles.
• Fellow senior Jonathan Friberg (11.0 pts, 7.6 reb) started all 27 games and shot a team-best 54.3 percent from the floor last season.
• Lasell averaged 84.7 points on 48.1 percent shooting over its final 15 games of the 2019-20 season.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Babson (2-0) completed a season-opening sweep of New England College with an 80-73 win on Sunday in Henniker, N.H.
• Jaworski scored 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds and first-year John Gorgol added 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting for the Beavers, who led by as many as 19 late in the first half.
• Jaworski averaged 16.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists in two victories over the Pilgrims, junior Colin Bradanese contributed 15.5 points and 4.5 boards, and classmate James Welch (15.0 pts, 3.5 reb) came off the bench to shoot 68.8 percent from the field.
• The Green and White shot 52.5 percent from the floor in two games against New England College.

BALANCING ACT
• In its first two games of the season against New England College, the Beavers had six different players score in double figures.
• Additionally, three players (Bradanese, Jaworski and Welch) all surpassed the 20-point mark once against the Pilgrims.

BENCH PRODUCTION
• The Babson bench averaged 24.0 points while shooting 65.4 percent (17-of-26) from the floor.
• Welch scored a career-high 22 points and knocked down five three-pointers in Saturday's victory, and the trio of he, senior Matt Pattyson and junior Beau Smith went 9-of-11 from the floor in Sunday's win.

CLIMBING THE CHARTS
• Jaworski has now scored 1,075 career points and passed Erik Dellasanta '93 for 24th place on the program's all-time list in Sunday's win at New England College.

NUMBER TO KNOW
• The Beavers have won 18 of their last 21 games going back to the start of last season when they make at least eight three-pointers.

HOW TO WATCH
• Although no fans will be allowed inside Staake Gymnasium this winter, both Saturday and Sunday's contests can be watched on the Babson Sports Network.

UP NEXT
• Following Sunday's game against Lasell, the Beavers open a two-game home-and-home series against St. Joseph (Conn.) on Saturday, March 6 inside Staake Gymnasium at 1 p.m.
