Box Score WILLIMANTIC, Conn. -- The Babson College baseball team suffered a tough non-conference loss on the road on Monday, as the Beavers fell to regional powerhouse Eastern Connecticut State University, 10-1.
Babson (11-10) scored its lone run of the day in the top of the sixth inning, as senior Chris Kucher ripped a two-out double to center, took third on a wild pitch, and scored on a passed ball. Unfortunately, the Beavers would manage just two more hits the rest of the way as the Warriors ran away with the 10-1 victory.
Kucher went 2-for-3 to extend his hitting streak to seven games, while sophomore Sean MacPhee recorded a ninth-inning single to push his hit streak to eight. First-year George Crowley joined Kucher with two hits, and senior John Botelho contributed a single to round out the Babson offense.
The first of four Beaver pitchers on the day, sophomore Nick Malatos made his first start of the season and took the loss, dropping his season record to 0-1.
The Green and White will return to action with a key conference game tomorrow afternoon, as the Beavers play at MIT in the rubber game of the teams' three-game set. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
