MIDDLEBURY, Vt.—Sophomore Max Lidman (Stockholm, Sweden) continued his strong play in the B singles draw with a pair of straight set wins to advance to the semifinals at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) New England Championships on Saturday at Middlebury College. 

After dropping just one game in a pair of pro-set victories on Friday, Lidman beat Pratt Yerger of Tufts 6-2, 6-3 in the third round and followed it up with a 6-1, 6-3 triumph over Hausen Dong of Brandeis in the quarterfinals on Saturday. He will top-seeded Jackson Rich of Tufts in the semifinals on Sunday. 

First-year Lucas Velasco (Miami Beach, Fla.) suffered a 5-7, 7-5, 6-2 loss to Gary Jiang of MIT, while sophomore Maxim Zlobinsky (Greenvale, N.Y.) fell 6-4, 6-3 to Hunter Liao of MIT in the third round of the A singles draw. Junior Sebastian Mendoza (Weston, Fla.) and first-year Andre Ziskind (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) also were eliminated from the doubles bracket with an 8-2 loss to the top-seeded pairing of Lukas Frangenberg and Andreas Sillaste of Amherst. 

Ziskind also reached the third round of the B singles draw before falling to Anand Sahasrabundhe of Middlebury, 7-6 (7-5), 1-6, 10-7 on Saturday. 

Sophomore Dylan O'Connell-DeCerchio (Santa Monica, Calif.) and first-year Saje Menon (Mineola, N.Y.) both rallied for three-set victories in their consolation singles matches. O'Connell-DeCerchio topped Leon Liu of Williams 3-6, 6-4, 10-7, while Menon came back for a 3-6, 7-5, 10-8 win over Luca Garbati of Bowdoin. 

Lidman will begin his semifinal match at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.
