NEWPORT, R.I.—The Babson College men's tennis team opened New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play with a 7-0 win over Salve Regina University on Saturday afternoon.
The Beavers (1-0, 1-0 NEWMAC) were playing their only dual match of the fall while Salve Regina dips to 1-1 overall and 0-1 in the conference with the loss.
The Green and White dropped just four games in doubles, which included sophomores
Sourish Gadhi (Morganville, N.J.) and
Maxim Zlobinsky (Greenvale, N.Y.) winning 6-1 at number two and the duo of junior
Louis Bourn (Geneva, Switzerland) and sophomore
Max Lidman (Stockholm, Sweden) claiming a 6-1 victory at number three. Babson completed the sweep thanks to junior
Mattias Harrell's (Oslo, Norway) and sophomore
Dylan O'Connell-DeCerchio's (Santa Monica, Calif.) 6-2 triumph at number one.
All six singles matches were decided in straight sets as O'Connell-DeCerchio beat Jude Neven 6-1, 6-0 at number one, Harrell recorded a 6-3, 6-1 victory at number two and Gadhi was a 7-5, 6-0 winner over the Seahawks' Kole Pinter at number three. Zlobinsky beat Max Varian 6-1, 6-2 at number four, Bourn cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 result at number five and Lidman breezed to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Ryan Gordon at number six.
Babson will conclude its weekend at the Boston University Invitational on Sunday before traveling to the ITA New England Championships in Middlebury, Vt., next Friday.
