CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—Sophomore Sourish Gadhi (Morganville, N.J.) recorded victories in both singles and doubles to highlight a number of strong performances by the Babson College men's tennis team on the opening day of competition at the MIT Invitational on Friday. 

The Beavers won six of eight singles matches against Bowdoin and went 1-2 in doubles with Wesleyan on day one. 

Gadhi was a 7-5, 6-4 winner over Aden Dorros, junior Sebastian Mendoza (Weston, Fla.) recorded a 7-6 (8-6), 6-4 wi over Simon Catanzaro and sophomore Dylan O'Connell-DeCerchio (Santa Monica, Calif.) and first-year Andre Ziskind (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) produced straight-set singles victories against the Polar Bears. Sophomore Maxim Zlobinsky (Greenvale, N.Y.) won a third-set breaker to defeat Jackson Codd 6-1, 5-7, 10-6 and first-year Saje Menon (Mineola, N.Y.) rallied for a 5-7, 7-1, 10-3 win over Christian Stubbeman. 

Gadhi paired with sophomore Rishi Batlanki (Monroe Township, N.J.) for an 8-4 triumph over Maxim Kauffman and Aidan Ronan. Mendoza and first-year Lucas Velasco (Miami Beach, Fla.) dropped an 8-3 decision to Chase Burke and Ryuto Saito, while Zlobinsky and Menon fell 8-7 (7-5) to Brett Keeling and Tommy Jani.

Babson will continue play with singles matches against MIT and Colby and doubles contests versus Amherst beginning at 12 p.m.
