BABSON PARK, Mass.—After capturing its second consecutive New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament championship back on April 26, the Babson men's tennis team learned that it will travel to Bowdoin College for the opening weekend of the Division III Championship on Monday afternoon.
The 12th-ranked Beavers (18-4) are back in the NCAA Tournament for the third time under eighth-year coach
Michael Kopelman and sixth time overall. The Green and White made history last season by beating Bowdoin to advance to the national quarterfinals for the first time in school history.
Babson, which received a first round bye for the second consecutive season, will face either No. 24 Skidmore College (16-5) or Bridgewater State University in Saturday's second round. The Thoroughbreds will be making their first NCAA appearance since 2021 and 13th all-time after winning the Liberty League, while the Bears captured their second MASCAC championship in the last three seasons.
Saturday's other second round matchup will feature No. 6 Bowdoin, which is making its fifth straight tournament appearance, taking on the winner of Friday's first round contest between Farmingdale State College (14-7) and Roger Williams University (18-5). The Rams are back in the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time in the last six years, while the Hawks punched their first ticket to the Division III championship since 2021.
The second round winners will meet on Sunday with a spot in the NCAA quarterfinals on the line.
Match times for all three rounds will be announced later on Monday.
