Baseball Travels to Newport, R.I. to Face No. 4/4 Salve Regina on Tuesday

SERIES HISTORY 

•    Babson is 13-8 all-time against Salve Regina in a series that dates back to 1986.
•    The Beavers have dropped all four regular season meetings to the Seahawks over the last two seasons but won the only conference tournament matchup between the squads back in 2024. 
•    The Green and White is 1-2 at Reynolds Field since Salve Regina joined the NEWMAC prior to the 2024 campaign. 

LAST MEETING
•    Brandon Grover hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the sixth inning to help Salve Regina defeat the Beavers, 5-3, on April 14, 2025, in Babson Park. 
•    Grover was 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored, Evan O'Rourke and Hunter Yaworski both had two hits and drove in a run, and Joe DeRienzo struck out six over four shutout innings out of the bullpen for the Seahawks, who also defeated the Green and White 5-4 three days earlier at Govoni Field.
•    Justin Guest '25 went 3-for-4 with a run scored and Chris Basile '25 and Tanner Santos '24 M'25 both singled and drove in a run for Babson, which jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the first. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    Babson (11-8, 3-1 NEWMAC) has won seven of its last eight games after beating UMass Boston 5-3 in game two to earn a split of Saturday's doubleheader.
•    Senior Zander Teator went 2-for-3 with two RBI, sophomore Brooks Saft provided a two-run single in the fourth inning and senior Connor Doan recorded a season-high six strikeouts while allowing two runs over 6.0 innings to pick up his first win of the season for the Beavers. 
•    Graduate student Ryan Grace is batting .356 with four homers, six doubles, 20 RBI and 20 runs scored, first-year Bobby Christensen is hitting .351 with four extra-base hits, 12 RBI and 10 runs scored, and sophomore Ben Valente owns a .333 average to go along with two homers, five doubles, five stolen bases, 12 runs batted in and 14 runs scored. 
•    Graduate student Joe Carrea (1-0) is holding opposing hitters to a .200 average and has 15 strikeouts in 16.1 innings, junior Jason Finkelstein (1-2, 7.16 ERA) allowed two runs over 7.0 innings in last Tuesday's win at Wheaton, and senior James Clark is 2-2 with 14 strikeouts over 16.0 innings pitched this spring. 

SCOUTING THE SEAHAWKS
•    No. 4 D3baseball.com/No. 4 ABCA Salve Regina (18-2, 5-1 NEWMAC) has won five consecutive games after defeating Western New England, 6-3, on Monday. 
•    Shane Williams and Danny Rogers both finished with two hits and an RBI, Jake Harring contributed an RBI single and scored twice, and Ryan Carrick struck out two over five scoreless innings out of the bullpen for the Seahawks, which finished with at least 10 hits for the fifth game in a row.
•    Rogers is hitting a league-best .507 with six doubles, 17 RBI and 23 runs scored, Shea Donovan is batting .410 with nine extra-base hits, 20 RBI and 22 runs scored, and Shane Williams owns a .349 average to go along with five homers, five doubles, 30 RBI and a NEWMAC-best 34 runs scored. 
•    Luis Ortiz Ramirez (4-0, 5.29 ERA) has recorded 15 strikeouts and no walks in 17.0 innings pitched, Kyle Carozza is 1-0 with two saves, a 1.29 ERA and 0.86 WHIP to go along with 22 strikeouts in 14.0 innings, and Dominic Carollo has gone 1-0 with one save, a 1.00 ERA and nine strikeouts over 9.0 innings over six relief appearances this season. 

BEAVER BITES
•    Grace, who leads the Beavers with seven multi-RBI games, ranks fourth in the NEWMAC in slugging percentage (.603), is fifth in both OPS (1.075) and total bases (44), and also ranks eighth with 13 walks. 
•    Christensen and Grace are tied for the team lead with seven multi-hit games, while Liss has at least two hits in five outings this season and 16 over the last two years. 
•    Carrea ranks first in the NEWMAC and 13th nationally with a 0.86 WHIP, and is second in the conference and 36th in Division III in ERA (1.65). 
•    Sophomore Chase Burrows ranks 25th in Division III in walks per nine innings (1.27). 

STREAKING BEAVERS
•    Valente enters Tuesday's contest riding a 10-game hitting streak and is batting .375 with five doubles, two home runs, 12 RBI and 13 runs scored during this stretch. 
•    Grace has reached base safely in all 19 of Babson's games this spring, while Saft has reached base safely in each of his last five starts and boasts a .524 on-base percentage and 10 runs batted in during this stretch. 

MOVING UP THE CHARTS
•    Teator recorded his fourth save of the season in the Beavers' 5-3 win over UMass Boston and now has 16 career saves, which ranks second in program history behind only Matt Cuneo '18, who recorded 20 from 2015-18. 
•    Teator needs just one more save this spring to become the first Babson closer to register at least five saves in three consecutive seasons. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    The Beavers are 5-2 on the road this spring and have won five in a row since dropping back-to-back games at then-No. 1 Trinity to open the year back in late February. 
•    Babson is 9-3 on the season when recording at least two extra-base hits. 
•    The Green and White is 3-1 in games decided by either one or two runs this year. 
•    The Beavers are 6-1 this spring and 24-6 going back to the start of last season when allowing five runs or fewer. 

UP NEXT
•    Babson returns to Govoni Field for the first of five straight home games on Thursday when it meets Rhode Island College at 3:30 p.m.
