MARLBOROUGH, Mass.— After helping the team post a pair of conference doubleheader sweeps, Babson College junior
Katie Vlacich (Concord, N.H./Proctor Academy) was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Softball Pitcher of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Vlacich recorded back-to-back shutouts and went 2-0 with 10 strikeouts over 12.0 innings to go along with a 0.75 WHIP and a .135 opponents' batting average in two starts over the weekend. She fanned five and gave up just two hits in Friday's 9-0 win at Salve Regina and followed it up with a complete-game three-hitter that included five strikeouts to help the Beavers sweep Clark on Saturday afternoon.
A three-year veteran, Vlacich has posted a 5-9 record this season with a 4.69 earned run average in 16 appearances and 14 starts. She has registered a pair of shutouts and struck out a team-high 52 batters on the season. She is ranked eighth in the NEWMAC in shutouts and 16th in strikeouts.
The Beavers (17-18, 9-7 NEWMAC) bring a four-game winning streak into Tuesday's non-conference game against Endicott on Tuesday at Alumni Field. They will wrap up the regular season with NEWMAC doubleheaders at home on Friday against Wellesley and Saturday at Springfield.
