Ruby Madia (Princeton Junction, N.J.) singled twice and knocked in a pair of runs, and Sealey and sophomore
Samantha Skivo (Conshohocken, Pa.) both recorded two hits, scored twice and had an RBI to pace the Beavers 12-hit attack. Junior
Charlotte Raymond (Wrentham, Mass.) added two RBI and Sealey gave up just one hit after the first inning and improve to 3-2 on the year in the circle with a complete-game effort.
Junior Emma Plourde (Stratham, N.H.) had an RBI double and classmate Gracie Keys (Portsmouth, R.I.) and first-year Ryann Burke (Nutley, N.J.) both singled and drove in a run for the Seahawks.
Raymond gave the Green and White a 2-0 lead in the top of the first and Skivo followed with a two-out RBI single for a three-run lead before the hosts followed with three consecutive one-out knocks in the bottom of the inning to tie the game. Walsh doubled and scored on an error in the second, Madia tripled to bring home Skivo in the fourth, and the Beavers busted the game open with a six-run fifth.
Madia got things started with an infield single that scored junior
Devin McCall (Virginia Beach, Va.), while first-year
Charly Landow (Wayne, Pa.), Walsh, Sealey and sophomore
Belle DiCampello (Pottstown, Pa.) all provided RBI doubles in the inning to build an eight-run lead. Sealey, who retired the final seven batters of the game, got a pair of fly outs around a strikeout in the bottom of the fifth to seal the win.
Game 2: Babson 9, Salve Regina 0
Sealey went 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBI, senior
Allie Cubberly (Lagrangeville, N.Y.) singled twice and drove in two runs, and sophomore
Kay LaLiberty (Lowell, Mass.) was 2-for-2 with an RBI as Babson piled up 12 hits and had six different players knock in a run. Junior
Katie Vlacich (Concord, N.H.) was terrific in the circle, striking out five and giving up just two singles to improve to 4-9 with her first shutout of the season.
The Beavers' first five hitters reached base to start the game and Sealey, Raymond, Skivo and Cubberly each drove in a run to forge a 4-0 lead. Sealey provided her second RBI double of the game to make it 5-0 in the second and then followed Cubberly's RBI single with a two-out, run-scoring base hit to right extending the margin to 7-0 in the third.
Babson got a sacrifice fly from Madia and an RBI single from LaLiberty in the fourth to push its lead to 9-0, which was more than enough for Vlacich. She fanned three of the first four batters she faced and retired eight in a row at one point before Burke singled for the second time in the game with one out in the bottom of the fifth.
Both teams will play another doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 12 p.m. as Babson hosts Clark, while Salve Regina takes on Wheaton.
