Softball Set for Doubleheaders at Salve Regina on Friday and Against Clark at Alumni Field on Saturday

WHAT TO KNOW

•    The Babson softball team enters the penultimate weekend of NEWMAC play with a doubleheader in Newport, R.I., against Salve Regina on Friday before returning to Alumni Field for a twin bill with Clark on Saturday afternoon. 

SERIES HISTORY
vs. Salve Regina

•    Babson is 7-2 all-time against the Seahawks in a series that dates back to 1996.
•    The Beavers have swept three straight doubleheaders against Salve Regina since 2022, which includes Moira O'Reilly '24 M'25 tossing back-to-back no-hitters in Newport in 2024. 
•    Senior Sophia Pak and Sara Moore '25 both had three hits and combined to drive in three runs in a 6-3 win in game one, and Cameron Whiteford M'25 struck out eight in a complete-game shutout as Babson defeated the Seahawks 1-0 in game two to complete a sweep of last year's twin bill on April 27, 2025, in Babson Park. 

vs. Clark 
•    Babson is 46-20 all-time against the Cougars in a series that dates back to 1996.
•    The Beavers have won 28 of their last 29 games versus Clark going back to 2012, which includes 12 consecutive victories at Alumni Field. 
•    The Green and White had its 27-game winning streak in the series snapped with a 5-4 walk-off win by the Cougars in game one of last year's doubleheader before responding with an 11-1 victory on April 30, 2025, in Worcester, Mass. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    Babson (13-18, 5-7 NEWMAC) has dropped three of its last four games after getting swept by Coast Guard last Saturday at Alumni Field. 
•    Junior Emily Walsh and sophomore Belle DiCampello each recorded hits in both games, and first-year Charly Landow went 3-for-3 with a run scored in game two of the twin bill as the Beavers dropped the opener 4-0 and suffered a 5-1 setback in game two against the Bears. 
•    Sophomore Belle DiCampello, who leads the team in multi-hit (10) and multi-RBI games (5), is batting .354 with seven doubles, two triples and a team-high 20 runs batted in, junior Lexi Sealey is hitting .323 with 12 doubles, a triple, a home run, 19 RBI and 14 runs scored, and Walsh enters the weekend with a .308 average go along with 11 extra-base hits, 12 RBI and a team-high 25 runs scored. 
•    First-year Anna Topel is 4-5 with a 4.06 ERA in 62.0 innings, junior Katie Vlacich is 3-9 with a 5.59 ERA and 42 strikeouts in 62.2 innings pitched, and Sealey is 2-2 with a three saves and a 2.80 ERA in 45.0 innings pitched over 16 appearances. 

SCOUTING THE SEAHAWKS
•    Salve Regina (3-27, 0-14 NEWMAC) has dropped 16 consecutive games after dropping game two of Wednesday's doubleheader to Clark, 4-1. 
•    Emily Cronin and Gracie Keyes both doubled and Emma Plourde provided a first-inning RBI single for the Seahawks, who carried a 1-0 lead into the top of the seventh before giving up four runs to the Cougars. 
•    Lillian Bridges is batting .385 with two doubles, a triple, seven stolen bases, seven RBI and 10 runs scored, Plourde is hitting .378 with five doubles, 13 RBI and 11 runs scored, and Cronin enters the weekend with a .357 average to go along with 11 doubles, 10 RBI and a team-high 16 runs scored. 
•    Shea Murphy is 2-12 with a 5.94 ERA and has allowed four or more earned runs in five consecutive starts, while Caroline Peterson is 1-13 with an 8.98 earned run average to go along with 42 strikeouts and 75 walks in 57.2 innings pitched. 

SCOUTING THE COUGARS
•    Clark (14-15, 3-9 NEWMAC) has won back-to-back games after rallying for a 4-1 victory to complete a sweep of Salve Regina on Wednesday afternoon. 
•    Emelie Spence went 2-for-4 and recorded a go-ahead two-run single in the top of the seventh, Erin Slavin was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and Megan Dube struck out six and scattered six hits in a complete-game effort for the Cougars, who struck for four runs in the top of the seventh inning to erase a 1-0 deficit. 
•    Dube is batting .326 with 12 doubles, 11 RBI and 10 runs scored, Spence is hitting .323 with three extra-base hits, eight stolen bases, seven RBI and a team-high 18 runs scored, and Merry Griffin owns a .316 average to go along with five doubles, 12 RBI and 13 runs scored. 
•    Brooke Buzzeo is 8-5 with a 2.77 EAR and 88 strikeouts in 86.0 innings pitched, while Dube is 5-9 with a 3.20 ERA and 80 strikeouts in 94.0 innings this spring. 

FIGHTING FOR PLAYOFF POSITION
•    The Beavers enter the weekend clinging to the seventh and final spot in next month's NEWMAC Tournament at 5-7 with a one-game lead over eighth-place Wheaton (4-8) and a two-game edge over Clark (3-9). 
•    Babson is sitting just one game behind Wellesley (6-6), which it hosts next Friday, and two-games in back of fifth-place Smith (7-5), which it split with to begin NEWMAC play back in late March. 
•    The top five seeds will advance directly to the double-elimination conference tournament bracket while the sixth and seventh seeds will meet in a one-game playoff to join them on Monday, May 4. 

STREAKING INTO THE WEEKEND
•    DiCampello boasts a nine-game hitting streak and has recorded at least one knock in 14 of the last 16 contests dating back to March 29. 
•    Walsh owns a four-game hitting streak, while Sealey and junior Charlotte Raymond reached base safely in both of the Beavers' games against Coast Guard last Saturday. 

NEWMAC NUMBERS
•    Raymond is batting .419 and leads the team both on-base percentage (.479) and slugging percentage (.605) to go along with five doubles, a home run, eight RBI and five runs scored in Babson's first 12 conference games. 
•    Landow, who recorded the first three-hit game of her career last Saturday against Coast Guard, is hitting .412 in 10 games versus league foes.
•    Sealey, who is tied for second in the league with 12 doubles, has fanned just once in 41 at-bats in NEWMAC play and her four strikeouts on the season are the fewest by any player in the conference with at least 100 at-bats. 
•    Sealey (11) and DiCampello (10) lead the Green and White in runs batted in versus league opponents, while Walsh has scored a team-high 12 runs in 12 NEWMAC games. 
•    Vlacich is 2-1 with a 2.85 ERA and 14 strikeouts in 19.2 innings pitched over her last three league starts. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    The Beavers are 11-5 this spring when scoring at least three runs and 7-2 when allowing two runs or fewer. 
•    Babson is 9-3 when recording more hits than its opponents. 
•    The Green and White is 11-1 this season and 31-2 over the last two years when leading after five innings. 
•    The Beavers are 6-7 this spring in games decided by one or two runs.
