MARLBOROUGH, Mass.— Three members of the Babson College softball team were recognized when the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced its postseason award winners on Tuesday afternoon.
Junior
Charlotte Raymond (Wrentham, Mass.) was named All-Conference First Team while junior
Lexi Sealey (Pleasant Hill, Calif.) and sophomore
Belle DiCampello (Pottstown, Pa.) were voted on to the Second Team. All three Beavers were recognized by the NEWMAC for the first time in their careers. The All-NEWMAC teams are chosen by a vote of the conference head coaches.
An outfielder and designated player,
Raymond was voted to the All-Conference team as a utility player after starting in all 43 games and batting a career-high .339 with 43 hits, 10 doubles, a triple, three home runs, 26 RBI, and 17 runs scored. She registered a .504 slugging percentage and struck out just 15 times in 127 at bats while finishing in the top 20 in the NEWMAC in hits, doubles, homers, and RBI. She was in the top 10 in conference games only in hits (20), doubles (8), home runs (2) and RBI (17).
Raymond has started 118 of her 121 career games, batting .291 with 99 hits, 19 doubles, seven home runs, 65 RBI and 48 runs scored.
A junior transfer from the University of Hartford,
Sealey was named All-Conference as an infielder. She started all 43 games mostly at first base, leading the team with a .355 batting average with 49 hits, 17 doubles, one triple, one home run, 28 RBI and 23 runs scored. She tied for second in the NEWMAC in doubles and finished 12th in the league in hits, 13th in RBI. Her 17 doubles ranks third on the program's all-time single-season list for doubles. She also made 20 appearances for the Beaver in the circle, including three starts, posting a 3-3 record with three saves and a 3.71 ERA, striking out 22 batters in 60.1 innings.
A sophomore catcher,
DiCampello started 40 games behind the plate and finished second on the team in hitting with a .347 batting average, including 43 hits, nine doubles, two triples, 24 RBI and 12 runs scored. She reached base safely in 17 of her last 18 games and produced 11 multi-hit games. She had at least one hit in 30 games this spring, including three knocks against Wisconsin-Whitewater and Wellesley and at least two hits 11 times. In her two seasons for the Green and White, she has started all 69 games with a .318 batting average, 70 hits, 12 doubles, two triples and one home run, 38 RBI and 23 runs scored.
Babson finished the season at 20-23 overall after going 11-9 in the regular season against conference foes. The Beavers tied for fourth in the league and won the first-round game in the NEWMAC Tournament under second-year head coach
