Baseball Visits Keene State in Non-Conference Finale on Sunday

SERIES HISTORY

•    Babson is 9-7 all-time against Keene State in a series that dates back to 2004.
•    The Beavers have won five in a row versus the Owls going back to 2015 although the teams have played just twice over the last decade. 
•    Sunday's contest will be the first played between the teams in Keene, N.H., since 2018. 

LAST MEETING
•    Tanner Santos '24 M'25 capped a five-run eighth inning with a two-out, bases-clearing triple to help the Beavers rally for a 7-6 win over Keene State on March 18, 2024, in Babson Park. 
•    Brant Savage '24 M'25 went 4-for-5 with a double and two runs scored, and John Nowak M'24 and Ike Kiely '24 each knocked in a run for Babson, which scored four of its five runs in the eighth inning with two outs to erase a 6-2 deficit. 
•    Otis Follett went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI, Tommy Ahlers doubled and scored twice , Evan Cali and Ethan Rainha both drove in a run, and Jake Jachym gave up just one earned run over 6.2 innings for the Owls. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    Babson (19-14) has won three straight games after closing out a sweep of Clark with a 9-5 win late Saturday afternoon. 
•    Graduate student Joe Carrea gave up just two runs over eight innings, sophomores Dylan Drazka and Ben Valente both had two hits and three stolen bases, and Ryan Liss hit a two-run homer for the Beavers, who had five players finish with multiple hits. 
•    Valente is batting .358 with five doubles, two homers, 13 stolen bases, 28 RBI and 35 runs scored, graduate student Ryan Grace is hitting .352 with 9 homers, 10 doubles, 38 RBI and 39 runs scored, and junior Dante D'Avanzo has raised his average to .308 with seven extra-base hits, 22 RBI and 24 runs scored. 
•    Graduate student Michael Camardi is 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA and 14 strikeouts in 13.1 innings pitched, sophomore Dillon James (2-1, 4.32 ERA) boasts a 1.04 WHIP and is holding opposing hitters to a .185 average in 25.0 innings, and senior James Clark is 2-3 with a 6.75 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 25.1 innings this spring. 

SCOUTING THE OWLS
•    Keene State (20-13) has won five of its last six games but is coming off a 5-2 loss in game two of Saturday's doubleheader at UMass Dartmouth. 
•    Cali and Derek Finlay both singled and Jonathan Chatfield had a first-inning sacrifice fly for the Owls, who walked eight times but were limited to a season-low two hits in the loss. 
•    Cali is batting .376 with 10 doubles, three triples, a homer, 32 RBI and 40 runs scored, Finlay is hitting .364 with 11 doubles, two home runs, 27 RBI and 31 runs scored, and Chatfield owns a .356 average to go along with six homers, 10 doubles, a team-high 38 RBI and 26 runs scored. 
•    Mason Pingree is 2-3 with a 5.65 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 36.2 innings, Daniel Cantafi is 1-0 with a 4.63 ERA and 14 strikeouts over 11.2 innings pitched, and Trey Kuzmeski is 3-1 with a 5.52 earned run average to go along with 17 strikeouts in 14.2 innings. 

BEAVER BITES
•    Entering the weekend, Valente has reached base safely in 22 straight outings and is currently riding a six-game hitting streak in addition to scoring at least one run in nine of the last 10 contests. 
•    Grace, who's nine home runs are tied for ninth on the program's single-season list, leads the Beavers with 12 multi-hit and 11 multi-RBI games this season. He also has reached base safely in his last 11 starts. 
•    D'Avanzo, junior Jack Moses and Drazka all enter Saturday's doubleheader with a hit in each of their last five games, while senior Zander Teator and D'Avanzo have reached safely in 10 straight outings.
•    Over his last four relief appearances, graduate Camardi owns a 1.50 ERA and has recorded eight strikeouts over 6.0 innings. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    The Beavers are 12-0 this spring when their starting pitcher goes at least 6.0 innings. 
•    Babson is 13-1 when recording more hits than its opponents and is 14-2 when it finishes with at least 10 hits. 
•    The Green and White is 12-1 on the year when allowing five or fewer runs. 
•    The Beavers are 18-2 this season when leading after seven innings.
