MARLBOROUGH, Mass.— Babson College sophomores
Sebastian Mendoza (Weston, Fla./Cypress Bay) and
Edward Wang (Burr Ridge, Ill./Phillips Academy Andover) were recognized by the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) on Monday as the Men's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week for the second straight week.
Mendoza and Wang won their only match of the week while playing together on Friday by defeating George Chaidemenos and Rex Harrison of Amherst 6-2 at number two in 11th-ranked Babson's 4-3 loss to the 20th-ranked Mammoths.
The Babson duo has a team-best 21-6 doubles record this season, including a 7-5 mark in dual matches as well as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) New England Doubles title last fall. Mendoza is 24-6 in all doubles matches and Wang is 22-7, surpassing and equaling the Babson program record of 22 doubles wins in a season set last year by senior
Alexander Merson (Palisades Park, N.J.).
The Beavers (12-4, 4-0 NEWMAC) will be home for a make-up match against rival and 26th-ranked MIT on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
