Three from Women's Alpine Ski Earn All-MacConnell Division Honors

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Three members of the Babson College women's alpine ski team were recognized with All-MacConnell Division accolades on Wednesday morning.

Juniors Julia Wiacek (Little Neck, N.Y.) and Sonnie Travis (Park City, Utah) both claimed a spot on the all-league team for the third consecutive season, while first-year Quinn Dennehy (Mendon, Vt.) garnered her first All-MacConnell Division honor. The all-league team honors skiers that place among the top-15 at the end of the regular season.

Dennehy put together a terrific rookie campaign with three runner-up finishes and a pair of third-place results on the way to coming in third in the overall in the regular season standings. She placed among the top 10 in nine of 10 races and four of her podium finishes came in the slalom, where she placed second three times in five starts.

Wiacek completed both runs in just five of 10 races this winter but made the most of her results with one first-place finish and a pair of runner-up showings to finish sixth in the MacConnell Division standings. She finished atop the podium in the slalom at Proctor Ski Area on January 17 and was the runner-up in giant slalom races at Sunday River to open the season and at Waterville Valley in the final league race of the year on February 8.

Travis finished among the top 10 in each of the seven races she finishes and posted a pair of top-five results to come in 12th in the MacConnell Division standings. Both of her fifth-place results came in the giant slalom, and Travis came in sixth in the slalom at Pat's Peak and fifth in the GS at Waterville Valley to secure her place on the all-league team for the third year in a row after beginning the final weekend of the regular season outside the top 15.

Coming off a second-place finish at regionals in February, Babson travels to Whiteface Mountain for the USCSA National Championships beginning on March 10.
