WILMINGTON, N.Y.—Babson College junior Julia Wiacek (Little Neck, N.Y.) made history on Tuesday afternoon becoming the first individual champion in program history by finishing atop the podium in the giant slalom at the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) National Championships at Whiteface Mountain. 

Wiacek helped the Beavers come in a program-best second as team, 9.55 seconds behind first-place Rocky Mountain. Fellow MacConnell Division programs Clarkson and UConn placed third and fourth, respectively, while Northeastern rounded out the top five in the GS. 

Wiacek recorded the fastest first run by 1.23 seconds and followed it up with the third-best time during the second run to cross the finish line in a time of 2:11.96, which was 0.96 seconds ahead of Aspen McAuley of Hobart. Junior Sonnie Travis (Park City, Utah) moved up eight spots with a terrific second run to place eighth overall with a time of 2:16.59, while sophomore Camryn Knowlton (Montreal, Quebec) came in 30th with a time of 2:25.64. 

First-year Quinn Dennehy (Mendon, Vt.) was 19th after her first run but was unable to finish a second trip down the mountain in her national championship debut. 

Babson will return to action on Tuesday when it competes in the slalom beginning at 9:15 a.m. 

RACE NOTES
•    The Beavers' previous best in the giant slalom was third place in both 2022 and 2025, and Tuesday's runner-up showing matched the program's second-place result in the slalom back in 2024. 
•    Wiacek joined Tatum Alkier '18, Elizabeth Baer '20 and Sarah Mangiacotti '21 as one of four six-time All-Americans in Babson history with Tuesday's win, while Travis earned the second All-America award of her career.
