CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine—The Babson College women's alpine ski team came in third in the slalom and finished as the runner-up in the combined standings for the third consecutive season at the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships at Sugarloaf Mountain on Sunday.
The Beavers, who placed second in Saturday's giant slalom, finished three points behind first-place Castleton to secure their spot at the USCSA National Championships for the 11th consecutive season. They will be joined by fellow MacConnell Division members UConn and UMass as well as Northeastern at Whiteface Mountain in Wilmington, N.Y., beginning on March 10.
Babson finished exactly six seconds behind first-place Castleton and just 0.94 seconds behind second-place Clarkson in Sunday's slalom, which was highlighted by first-year
Quinn Dennehy (Mendon, Vt.) posting the fastest second run (42.24) to come in second overall with a time of 1:25.68. Junior
Sonnie Travis (Park City, Utah) wrapped up a strong weekend by placing eighth with a time of 1:27.53, while sophomore
Camryn Knowlton (Montreal, Quebec) finished in 15th position with a time of 1:30.55.

Ava Butler (Goshen, Conn.) came in 19th in a time of 1:31.34, while classmate
Julia Wiacek (Little Neck, N.Y.) was in second place just 0.54 seconds off the lead following her first run but was unable to complete a second trip down the mountain.
Four Babson competitors finished among the top 10 in the combined standings with Dennehy coming in third and Travis fifth. Knowlton placed eighth and Butler came in 10th, while Wiacek finished 41st overall thanks to her fifth-place showing in Saturday's GS.
Babson returns to action next Saturday when it travels to the Middlebury Snow Bowl in Hancock, Vt., for the EISA Championships.
