Dennehy Finishes Runner-Up in the Slalom as Women's Alpine Skiing Ties for Third Overall at USCSA National Championships

WILMINGTON, N.Y.—First-year Quinn Dennehy (Mendon, Vt.) earned the first All-America award of her career thanks to a second-place finish as the Babson College women's alpine ski team came in fifth in the slalom and tied for third in the combined standings to conclude the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) National Championships on Thursday afternoon at Whiteface Mountain.

The Beavers were less then five seconds behind fourth-place Clarkson in the slalom, while UConn, Colgate and Rocky Mountain claimed the top three spots in Thursday's race. Rocky Mountain, which won the giant slalom on Tuesday, captured its third consecutive national championship by coming in first overall, while Babson and Clarkson tied for third behind fellow MacConnell Division rival UConn in the combined standings.

Babson's third-place showing in the combined standings matched the 2016, 2022, 2024 and 2025 teams for the highest finish in program history.

Dennehy was second after her first run, less than a half-second off the pace of Rocky Mountain's Elisabeth Grimkelsrud, and crossed the finish line in a time of 1:38.87 to finish as the runner-up just 0.15 seconds behind Aspen McAuley of William Smith. Sophomore Camryn Knowlton (Montreal, Quebec) moved up eight spots in her second run to place 22nd with a time of 1:47.14, while junior Ava Butler (Goshen, Conn.) came in 38th overall with a time of 1:53.47.

Juniors Julia Wiacek (Little Neck, N.Y.) and Sonnie Travis (Park City, Utah), who earned All-America laurels in the GS on Tuesday, failed to finish their first runs in the slalom on Thursday.

Knowlton, who was the only Babson competitor to finish both the giant slalom and slalom, placed 23rd in the combined standings. Wiacek, the Beavers first national champion in the GS, was 51st, Dennehy came in 52nd and Travis and Butler placed 57th and 68th, respectively.
