MARLBOROUGH, Mass.— For the first round of men's tennis weekly honors this season, Babson College sophomore
Edward Wang (Burr Ridge, Ill.) was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Singles Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Wang recorded a pair of straight-set wins to help No. 12 Babson open the spring with wins over Skidmore and No. 20 Rensselaer on Saturday. He defeated Kyle Lundberg of Skidmore 7-5, 6-3 at number two in the morning and followed it up with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph over Tasmay Shah of the Engineers at number one in the afternoon.
Wang has produced a 7-2 singles record this season, including a 4-0 record in dual matches. He is coming off an outstanding 2025 campaign that saw him earn NEWMAC Rookie of the Year and All-Conference honors in both singles and doubles after finishing 24-4 in singles and 17-10 in doubles.
The Beavers (4-0, 1-0 NEWMAC) return to action on Saturday when they host No. 27 NYU at 3:45p.m. at the Longfellow Health Club in Wellesley, adjacent to the Babson campus.
