WILMINGTON, N.Y.—First-year
Quinn Dennhey (Mendon, Vt.) came in third as the Babson College women's alpine ski team recorded a third-place finish in the slalom at Whiteface Mountain on Saturday.
The Beavers finished just under eight second behind first-place Castleton and 4.56 seconds off the pace of second-place UConn. Clarkson placed fourth, 1.45 seconds in back of the Green and White.
Dennehy's second run time of 48.07 was the second fastest among MacConnell Division competitors helping her land on the podium for the third time in five races with a time of 1:34.74. Junior
Sonnie Travis (Park City, Utah) finished 10th in a time of 1:38.34, sophomore
Camryn Knowlton (Montreal, Quebec) was 11th with a time of 1:41.18 and junior
Ava Butler (Goshen, Conn.) placed 13th in a time of 1:41.85.
Junior
Riley Jerome (Bethel, Maine) also finished 17th with a two-run time of 1:44.14. Classmate
Julia Wiacek (Little Neck, N.Y.) was sitting in first place after completing her first trip down the hill in 45.59 but was unable to finish her second run.
Babson returns to Whiteface on Sunday for the giant slalom beginning at 10 a.m.
