Julia Wiacek (Little Neck, N.Y.) recorded her first victory of the season to highlight Saturday's MacConnell Division slalom race for the Babson College women's ski team at Proctor Ski Area.
Wiacek recorded her second career first-place showing in the slalom and first since finishing atop the podium in the penultimate race of the 2024 season at Pat's Peak. Sitting in second place after her opening run, she made up the 0.12 second deficit to post a time of 1:33.68 that was 0.26 faster than runner-up Elisabeth Worster of Castleton.
Junior
Ava Butler (Goshen, Conn.) placed 23rd with a time of 1:48.35 for the Beavers, who had four skiers fail to complete two runs. Fellow junior
Sonnie Travis (Park City, Utah) was the only one of the four to finish her first trip down the hill and was sitting in 10th place following the opening run.
Babson returns to action next Saturday and Sunday when it travels to Lake Placid, N.Y., to compete in the giant slalom at Whiteface Mountain.
