Quinn Dennehy (Mendon, Vt.) and junior
Julia Wiacek (Little Neck, N.Y.) recorded top-five finishes to help the Babson College women's alpine ski team come in second in the slalom at Proctor Ski Area on Friday afternoon.
The Beavers finished 7.70 seconds behind first-place Castleton, while UConn and Clarkson came in third and fourth, respectively.
Dennehy finished her two runs in a time of 1:35.18 to come in second just 0.65 seconds off the pace of Castleton's Elisabeth Worster, while Wiacek finished fifth in a time of 1:35.44. It was the second runner-up and third top-four result to begin the season for Dennehy and Wiacek's second top-five showing in three races.
Sophomore
Camryn Knowlton (Montreal, Quebec) placed 15th with a time of 1:42.28, junior
Riley Jerome (Bethel, Maine) came in 18th in a time of 1:44.97 and classmate
Ava Butler (Goshen, Conn.) settled into 26th position with a time of 1:48.15.
Babson concludes the weekend at Proctor with a second slalom race beginning on Saturday at 10 a.m.
