Baseball Returns Home to Face UMass Dartmouth on Thursday

SERIES HISTORY

•    Babson is 16-24 all-time against UMass Dartmouth in a series that dates back to 1976. 
•    The Beavers have won 10 of their last 16 games versus the Corsairs although the teams have split their last eight matchups going back to 2015. 
•    The squads split a pair of games in Babson Park last season and UMass Dartmouth has won five of its last seven against the Green and White at Govoni Field dating back to 2010. 

LAST MEETING
•    Devyn Vezina went 3-for-3 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored to help UMass Dartmouth defeat the Beavers, 7-3, in an NCAA Tournament Babson Park Regional elimination game on May 18, 2024, at Govoni Field. 
•    Scott Cromack had a two-run single during a four-run fourth inning rally and Anthony Keefe allowed just two earned runs while striking out four over 7.0 innings for the Corsairs, who took advantage of five errors by the hosts in the win. 
•    Graduate student Jack Julian, Luca Rubin '24 and John Nowak M'24 finished with two hits apiece and graduate student Tanner Santos and junior Ryan Hvozdovic each drove in a run for the Beavers, who stranded 12 men on base in the loss. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    Babson (16-8) has won two straight games after defeating Tufts, 11-5, on Wednesday afternoon in Medford, Mass. 
•    Senior Justin Guest doubled twice, junior Zander Teator went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI, and sophomore Alexander Wilson was 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI for the Beavers, who went in front for good with an eight-run sixth inning that included five hit batsmen, three walks and two hits. 
•    Teator is batting .383 with three home runs, six doubles, 19 RBI and 15 runs scored, Guest is hitting .344 with 10 doubles, two homers, 12 RBI and 21 runs scored, and sophomore Ryan Liss owns a .309 average to go along with four home runs, six doubles, 23 RBI and 21 runs scored. 
•    Junior Jason Finkelstein is 2-0 with a 3.77 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 28.2 innings pitched, graduate student Tristen Spalter (2-3, 5.74 ERA) has 22 strikeouts against just eight walks in 31.1 innings, and the bullpen duo of Teator (4 saves, 2.53 ERA, 10.2 IP) and senior Luke McClintock (1-0, 1.80 ERA, 10 IP) have combined to hold opposing hitters to a .168 average this spring. 

SCOUTING THE CORSAIRS
•    UMass Dartmouth (13-11) had its three-game winning streak snapped in an 8-3 eight-inning loss to Rhode Island College on Tuesday. 
•    Cromack was 3-for-4 with a double, Nick Baralini doubled, tripled and drove in a run, and Liam Blesi went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Corsairs, who left 10 men on base in the loss. 
•    Blesi is batting .379 with three home runs, four doubles, 16 RBI and 14 runs scored, Brett Baker is hitting .289 with seven doubles, two homers, 16 RBI and 16 runs scored, and Matt Tempone owns a .244 average to go along with six doubles, a home run and a team-high 32 runs batted in. 
•    Geordan Jackson Murphy is 1-2 with a 2.70 ERA and 13 strikeouts in 13.1 innings, Dillon Harding is 2-1 with a 4.11 ERA, 12 strikeouts and 11 walks in 15.1 innings, and Ian-James McCasland (0-0) owns a 5.28 earned run average to go along with seven strikeouts and 12 walks in 15.1 innings on the year. 

STREAKING BEAVERS
•    Senior Walter Sadowsky owns a 12-game hitting streak, while Liss and Santos have both reached base safely in each of their last 18 starts. 
•    Guest has recorded three straight multi-hit games and has gotten on base safely in 12 contests in a row.
•    Teator has reached base safely in his last 11 starts, while Julian, Wilson and graduate student Thomas Parisi all own six-game on-base streaks. 

PROVIDING RELIEF
•    The Beavers' relief corps boasts a 1.88 ERA and has allowed just three earned runs on six hits while striking out 12 and walking four in 14.1 innings of work in three games this week. 
•    Junior Connor Doan struck out two and gave up just two hits over 4.2 scoreless innings to earn the win against Lasell on Tuesday, and sophomore Tristan Pearl allowed one run over 3.0 innings in his first appearance of the year to pick up his second career victory on Wednesday at Tufts. 

TRENDS TO WATCH
•    The Beavers have at least one extra-base hit in all 24 games this season and have worked at least one walk in 37 consecutive outings going back to April 27 of last year. 
•    Guest is batting .571 (8-for-14) with three doubles over his last three games, while Wilson has two RBI in back-to-back starts.
•    Babson had seven hit batsmen in Wednesday's win over Tufts, which is the its most since getting hit eight times versus Emerson on April 16, 2022, and has now gotten plunked 29 times over the last 10 contests. 
•    The Babson pitching staff has allowed just 10 extra-base hits over the last eight games. 
•    The Green and White has allowed five runs or fewer in 10 of its last 11 outings. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    The Beavers are 15-3 on the year when giving up five runs or fewer. 
•    Babson is 10-3 this spring and 32-6 since the start of last season when scoring the first run of the game. 
•    The Green and White is 14-0 this season when leading after six innings.
•    The Beavers are 10-3 on the year when recording more hits than their foes.
