SERIES HISTORY
vs. Smith

• Babson is 18-10 all-time against Smith dating back to 1994.
• The Beavers have won their last 14 matches versus the Pioneers dating back to the fall of 2007.
• Smith has not taken more than one individual match from Babson in the last 14 encounters.
vs. Salve Regina
• Babson has captured all 11 matches all-time against Salve Regina in a series that dates back to 2000.
• The teams will meet for just the second time since the Beavers defeated the Seahawks in the fall of 2015.
• The Beavers have captured six of the 11 matches by 9-0 scores.
vs. Wellesley
• Babson is 14-33 all-time against Wellesley in a series that dates back to 1989.
• The Beavers have won four straight and 11 of the last 14 matches against the Blue.
• The Green and White are 1-9 in the last 10 matches at Wellesley going back to 2005, including a 6-3 loss inside the Dorothy Towne Fieldhouse in the last meeting there in 2022.

LAST MEETING
vs. Smith
• Juniors Matia Cristiani and Kamila Stasiowska and sophomore Dana Kamal earned points in both singles and doubles as No. 13 Babson breezed to a 9-0 victory over Smith on March 23, 2024, inside the Boston Sports Center.
Juliette Moschella '24, Laetitia Rizk and Mariana Campos also won singles matches for the Beavers. Cristiani teamed up with junior Olivia Soffer for a win at No. 1 doubles, and Adèle Fernández '24 and sophomore Chaniel Soffer paired up for a victory at No. 2 doubles.
vs. Salve Regina
• No. 11 Babson had four players earn points in both singles and doubles on the way to sweeping Salve Regina, 9-0, on March 30, 2024, at the SRU Tennis Courts in Newport, R.I.
Olivia Soffer and Cristiani teamed up for a win at No. 1 doubles before registering victories in the top two singles flights. Junior Shyla Khattar won her matches at fifth singles and second doubles and Shanaya Naik '24 captured wins at sixth singles and third doubles. Junior Grace Starcher at number two and Jane Wang '24 at number three added doubles wins and Juliette Moschella '24 and Campos captured singles victories.
at Wellesley
Olivia Soffer and Cristiani recorded victories in both singles and doubles to help 19th-ranked and second-seeded Babson defeat third-seeded Wellesley, 5-0, in a NEWMAC Tournament semifinal on May 4, 2024 at the Babson Tennis Courts.
•  Moschella and Kamal at No. 3 and Chaniel Soffer and junior Elena Keitt at No. 2 helped Babson sweep the doubles. Olivia and Matia closed out the match with wins in the top two singles flights for the Beavers, who also defeated Wellesley, 7-2, in the regular season finale a week earlier.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• No. 20 Babson (4-1, 0-0 NEWMAC) went 3-1, all against ranked teams, on its spring break trip to California last week, capped by 6-1 victories at No. 22 Redlands on March 21 and No. 29 Caltech on March 22.
Olivia Soffer and Matia Cristiani both went 4-0 in the top two singles slots in California, and won three of four matches at No. 1 doubles. Chaniel Soffer and Alessandra Cristiani each went 3-1 in the middle of the singles line-up while going 2-2 together at No. 2 doubles. First-years Sarai Dorismond and Mia Sorrentino won a pair of matches at No. 3 doubles and Stasiowska won twice at No. 6 singles.
• Olivia (14-4) leads the team in singles wins, including 4-1 at No. 1, and Matia (13-1) is second on the team, including 5-0 at No. 2. Chaniel (10-3) is 4-1 at No. 3 and Alessandra (9-4) is 4-1 at No. 4 for the Beavers, who have won 21 of 30 matches in singles and 10 of 15 in doubles this spring.
• Olivia and Matia are 11-2 this year in doubles, including 4-1 at No. 1 in dual matches, and Chaniel and Alessandra are 3-2 at No. 2 doubles.

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
• Smith (2-6, 1-1 NEWMAC) is coming off a 7-0 loss at No. 11 MIT in a conference match last Friday in Cambridge. The Pioneers defeated Clark 7-0 in their NEWMAC opener back on March 18.
• Seniors Clara Goshgarian and Lili Goshgarian posted 6-0, 6-1 victories in the top two singles slots after pairing up for a 6-0 win at No. 1 doubles in the win over Clark. Sophomore Sophia Dube and first-year Tabitha Bastress teamed up at No. 2 doubles and first-year Alexa Konstantopoulos and sophomore Sabrina Wang paired up at No. 3 to complete the doubles sweep after each won a singles match over the Cougars.
• Sophomore Ayla Hauser (2-1) has played all of her matches at No. 1 singles while Clara and Lili Goshgarian have played at Nos. 2 and 3. Wang (3-3) plays mostly at No. 4 and Dube in the regular at No. 5.
• The Goshgarians are 3-1 in doubles in dual matches, and the team of Dube and Bastress have two wins at Nos. 2 and 3.

SCOUTING THE SEAHAWKS
• Salve Regina (4-6, 1-0 NEWMAC) registered a 6-1 victory over Clark in its NEWMAC opener last Saturday in Newport, R.I.
• Sophomores Kaydin Pinto and Stephanie Davis cruised to a 6-0 win at No. 1 doubles for the Seahawks before posting straight-set victories in the top two singles flights. Classmate Madigan Murphy and junior Sadie Rieg did the same at No. 2 doubles and Nos. 3 and 4 singles, respectively. Seniors Natalie Barros and Elena Murdock produced a win at No. 3 doubles and classmate Natalia Vega pulled out a grueling three-set victory at No. 5 singles.
• Pinto (6-3) leads the team in singles wins, including 4-1 at No. 2, and Davis (5-5) is 3-2 at No. 2. Murphy has posted a 4-6 mark at No. 3, Rieg (4-4) is 2-4 at No. 4, and junior Sloane Nelson is 3-5 at No. 6.
• Pinto and Davis are 6-4 at No. 1 doubles for the Seahawks, while Murphy and Rieg are 4-4 at No. 2 and Barros and Murdock are 3-1 at No. 3.

SCOUTING THE BLUE
• No. 24 Wellesley (9-1, 2-0 NEWMAC), which begins its weekend with a NEWMAC match at Springfield on Saturday, has won five matches in a row, including wins over No. 23 Denison, No. 37 Hope, and George Fox on a spring break trip to Florida last week.
• Sophomore Suzanne Xu and first-years Sofia Corte-Real, Sophie Buttorff and Nandini Patel all posted 3-0 singles records in Florida in the second through fifth flights. Classmate Rianna Mariotti was 2-0 at No. 6 and fellow first-year Kotistha Modak was 1-1 at No. 1, taking her first loss of the season in three-sets against Hope. Sophomores Lily Cade and Kristi Sarav went 3-0 at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles.
• Xu (11-2) and Patel (11-1) lead the team in singles wins, with Xu going 3-0 at No. 1 and 6-1 at No. 2 and Patel playing in the bottom half of the line-up. Corte-Real (10-3) is 2-0 at No. 2 and 6-1 at No. 3 and Buttorff (9-2) is 7-1 in dual matches. Modak is 6-1 overall, all at No. 1 singles.
• Cade and Sarav (6-0) lead the team in doubles victories. Modak and Corte-Real are 5-4 overall and 3-3 at No. at doubles, and Xu and Buttorff are 4-2 at either No. 2 or 3 for the Blue.

CRISTIANI NAMED NEWMAC SINGLES PLAYER OF THE WEEK
• Matia Cristiani was named NEWMAC Singles Player of the Week on Monday after going 3-0 at No. 2 singles on the team's trip to California.
• Cristiani has won her last eight singles matches. She has improved her career record to 66-5, which ranks second in program history in singles wins.

BABSON VS. THE NEWMAC
• Babson has posted an 23-3 regular season record against NEWMAC foes over the past four seasons, and a 50-8 mark going back to 2015.
• The Beavers were 8-1 in the NEWMAC last season, with six of their wins by 9-0 scores and one win each by scores of 8-1 and 7-2.
• Olivia Soffer has a career 17-0 regular season singles record against conference opponents and a 13-2 mark in doubles. Matia Cristiani is 10-0 all-time against NEWMAC foes in both singles and doubles, Keitt is 11-0 in singles and 10-3 in doubles, and Stasiowska is 8-1 in singles and 7-2 in doubles.

NEWMAC POLL
• Babson was picked to finish runner-up when the NEWMAC announced its preseason coaches' poll last month. 
• The Beavers received three first-place votes and finished behind last year's champion MIT, which got six top votes. Wellesley, Smith and Springfield rounded out the top five.

NATIONALLY RANKED FOES
• Sunday's encounter at Wellesley will be the sixth of 11 Babson matches this spring against teams ranked in the ITA Division III poll.
• The Beavers are 4-1 in the first five encounters, and will also take on No. 33 Colby, No. 3 Emory, No. 16 Case Western Reserve, No. 11 MIT and No. 12 Amherst in April.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
• Babson is 17-2 since the start of last season when leading after doubles and has won 61 of its last 63 matches with a lead heading into singles dating back to 2018.
• The Beavers are 33-9 in regular season matches going back to the start of the 2022-23 season.

UP NEXT
• The Beavers will be home next weekend, hosting Emerson in a NEWMAC match on April 4 and No. 33 Colby on April 5 at the Babson Tennis Courts.
