• The Babson women's tennis team plays its first NEWMAC matches of the spring when it visits 34th-ranked Smith on Friday and Wheaton on Sunday.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• No. 11 Babson (4-3, 1-0 NEWMAC) dropped all three of its matches last week in South Carolina, including a 4-3 setback against No. 13 Johns Hopkins on March 18.

Jolie Wang rallied for a 2-7, 6-4, 16-14 triumph at number six singles for the Beavers, who who lost to No. 2 Wash U. and No. 4 Wesleyan on their spring break trip.

Alessandra Cristiani is 2-3 on the year in dual matches and Wang (8-5) owns wins at both fourth and sixth singles.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
• No. 34 Smith (3-5, 0-0 NEWMAC) snapped a two-match skid by defeating then-No. 31 Caltech last Friday.
• Ava Emrich and Heidi Cambron were victorious at number one doubles and recorded straight-set victories in singles, while Natazya Simunyola won 6-4, 6-2 at number four singles and was part of a win at number doubles to help the Bears secure the first point of the match.
• Ayla Hauser (No. 1), Emrich (No. 2) and Cambron (No. 3) are all 3-4 in dual matches, while Simunyola is 3-1, which includes a 2-0 mark at number four singles.
• Emrich and Cambron are 4-3 at number one doubles, Hauser and Simunyola are a perfect 7-0 at number two and the duo of Emily Wang and Olivia Chin have gone 2-3 at number three this spring.
SCOUTING LYONS
• Wheaton (6-4, 1-0 NEWMAC) has won five of its last six matches and opened conference play with a 7-0 victory at Clark last Saturday.
• Kara Greenlee, Alissa Ortiz and Laila Haraj-Sai all won in both singles and doubles for the Lyons, who captured two of the three doubles contests and won five of six singles matches in straight sets.
• Greenlee is 6-3 at number one singles, Haraj-Sai is 5-4 at number two and Ortiz is 6-3 overall and 5-3 at number three singles.
• Greenlee and Ortiz are 6-3 at number one doubles, while Haraj-Sai and Asia-Leigh Hollis have gone 4-3 at number this spring.
SIKHARULIDZE, CRISTIANI SWEEP NEWMAC WEEKLY AWARDS
• Sikharulidze defeated a pair of nationally-ranked opponents on the way to being selected as the league's singles player of the week and paired with
Matia Cristiani to earn conference doubles team of the week accolades on Monday.
• Sikharulidze beat 17th-ranked Eleanor Acher of Wash U in straight sets and followed it up with three-set victories over Agnes Guggenheim of Wesleyan (6-0, 5-7, 6-2) and 30th-ranked Lia Melvin of Johns Hopkins (4-6, 6-4, 6-2) to earn her first NEWMAC Singles Player of the Week honor.
• The Beavers' top pairing has won its last seven matches at number one doubles after beating the seventh-ranked Wash U. pairing of Archer and Caitlin Bui and then defeating Melvin and Sophia Kim of Johns Hopkins for the second time this spring.
REWRITING THE RECORD BOOKS
• By going 3-0 at number one singles on the Beavers' trip to South Carolina,
Matia Cristiani is now the program's all-time leader in singles, doubles and combined wins.
• Cristiani's 102 wins in singles, 104 victories in doubles and 206 combined triumphs surpassed the marks set by
Olivia Soffer '25, who won 99 times in singles and 97 times in doubles from 2021-25.
POLLING NUMBERS
• Babson, which matched its highest national ranking in program history at No. 9 back on March 4, dropped two spots to 11th when the ITA released its latest rankings on Wednesday.
• The Beavers were picked to finish second behind No. 9 in NEWMAC preseason coaches' poll back in early February, and the Green and White and Engineers are joined by Wellesley (No. 30) and Smith (No. 34) in the most recent ITA Division III poll.
NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Beavers are unbeaten in 24 straight matches at number one doubles dating back to March 19 of last season.
• Babson is 4-0 this season and has been victorious in 12 straight matches when winning the doubles point going back to last season.
• The Green and White is 3-3 this spring against nationally-ranked opponents.
