No. 11 Women's Tennis Faces No. 22 Brandeis in Home Opener on Wednesday

SERIES HISTORY

•    Babson and Brandeis will meet for the 31st time on Wednesday in a series that dates back to the 1994-95 campaign.
•    The Beavers are 9-21 overall against the Judges but have won four straight matches between the teams since 2022. 

LAST MEETING
•    Junior Chaniel Soffer secured the clinching point with a 7-6, 4-6, 6-2 victory at number three singles to help Babson edge Brandeis, 4-3, on March 8, 2025, in Waltham, Mass. 
•    Sophomore Alessandra Cristiani was a straight-set winner at number four singles and paired with Chaniel Soffer for a 7-5 victory at number two doubles, while senior Matia Cristiani won 6-2, 6-1 at number two singles and paired with Olivia Soffer '25 to help claim the doubles point with a 6-4 triumph at number one doubles. 
•    Anastasia Sia won at both number five singles and number three doubles, while Rebecca Suarez posted a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Olivia Soffer at number one singles for the Judges. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    No. 11 Babson (6-3) has won two straight matches after cruising past Wheaton 7-0 on Sunday. 
•    Senior Grace Starcher, junior Dana Kamal and first-year Elizabeth Shu all recorded victories in both singles and doubles for the Beavers, who posted a 6-2 result in all three doubles contests and won all six singles matches in straight sets. 
•    Matia Cristiani is 23-0 in all matches and 7-0 at number one singles, first-year Sandra Sikharulidze is 13-4 overall and 6-0 at number two, Alessandra Cristiani (6-6) and Shu (3-0) both have three dual-meet wins, and Wang (9-5) owns one win apiece at fourth, fifth and sixth singles.
•    Matia Cristiani and Sikharulidze are 22-2 overall and 7-0 at number one doubles, while Wang and Dorismond are 4-1 with three wins at number two.

SCOUTING THE JUDGES
•    No. 22 Brandeis (7-4) has won two of its last three matches but is coming off a 6-1 loss to 10th-ranked Bowdoin last Saturday. 
•    Nancy Zhang rallied for a 3-6, 6-4, 11-9 victory at number five singles and Suarez and Mandy Reyes posted a 6-4 win at number one doubles for the Judges, who are 2-3 this spring against top-40 opponents. 
•    Reyes is 11-7 in all matches and 4-1 at number one singles, Charly Saltz is 10-7 overall and 8-2 in dual matches with wins at Nos. 3-6, and Zhang (9-3) has registered back-to-back victories and is 3-0 at number two and also owns wins at fourth and fifth singles. 
•    Suarez and Reyes are 10-3 overall and have won four consecutive matches at number one doubles, Zhang and Milana Sofizade are 2-3 at number and the duo of Chahana Budhbhatti and Avani Chitale are 7-4 in all matches, which includes a 4-0 mark at number two and a 2-1 record at number three. 

IRON SHARPENS IRON
•    Seven of Babson's first eight opponents this spring have been among the top 35 in the most recent ITA Division III rankings. 
•    The Beavers opened the spring with a 4-3 win over then-No. 7 Johns Hopkins back on January 31 and also own victories over then-24th-ranked NYU (4-1) on February 28, No. 10 Bowdoin (4-3) on March 1 and No. 34 Smith (5-2) last Friday. 
•    Babson suffered 4-2 losses to No. 2 Washington University and No. 4 Wesleyan and dropped a 4-3 decision to Johns Hopkins on its spring break trip to South Carolina two weeks ago. 
•    Following Wednesday's match versus the Judges, the Beavers travel to No. 20 Williams on Friday and will face No. 30 Wellesley on April 19, No. 13 Washington & Lee on April 23 and No. 9 MIT on April 25 to conclude the regular season. 

REWRITING THE RECORD BOOKS
•    By going 3-0 at number one singles on the Beavers' trip to South Carolina, Matia Cristiani is now the program's all-time leader in singles, doubles and combined wins. 
•    Cristiani's 103 wins in singles, 105 victories in doubles and 208 combined triumphs surpassed the marks set by Olivia Soffer '25, who won 99 times in singles and 97 times in doubles from 2021-25. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    The Beavers are a perfect 9-0 at number one and two singles and number one doubles this season.
•    Babson is 6-0 this year and has won its last 14 matches going back to last season when claiming the doubles point. 
•    The Green and White is 21-1 at the Babson Tennis courts going back to May 3, 2023.
