WHAT TO KNOW
• The Babson men's and women's track & field team travel to Myrtle Beach, S.C., to compete in the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational for the first time in program history beginning on Thursday night.
• Babson is one of 41 schools participating in the three-day meet, which features programs from 18 states and the District of Columbia.
SCHEDULE
• Competition will get underway at 1 p.m. on Thursday and the Beavers will feature in the men's 10,000-meter run starting at 7:45 p.m.
• Field events get underway at 9 a.m. on both Friday and Saturday and track events start at 12 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday.
LOOKING BACK ON 2024
• Under the guidance of head coach
Russ Brennen, now in his 21st season, the Beavers are coming off a terrific 2024 campaign that included a pair of All-America selections, two NCAA Championship qualifiers, seven all-region honors and all-conference accolades in 11 events, which includes claiming three NEWMAC individual titles.
• Graduate student
Anthony Rodriguez '24 garnered his second consecutive NEWMAC Track Athlete of the Year honor,
Eric Bottern '24, who is now competing at Duke, was tabbed as the NEWMAC Field Athlete of the Year, and sophomores
Chris McDonough and
Colleen Corman were both earned NEWMAC Rookie of the Year accolades.
• McDonough (100 meters), Bottern (shot put) and Rodriguez (10,000 meters) claimed conference titles, while Bottern and Rodriguez both qualified for nationals and garnered All-America accolades in their respective events inside Doug Stadium last May.
• Brennen and his assistants also earned NEWMAC Men's Track & Field Coaching Staff of the Year laurels for the first time since 2017.
ABOUT THE BABSON WOMEN
• The Beavers bring back 18 athletes from a team that placed sixth with 49 points, their second highest in program history, at last season's NEWMAC Championship meet.
• Corman came in second in the 400-meter hurdles to earn all-conference honors, while junior
Trista Sicard set a new school record of 36-feet, 7.75-inches to earn All-NEWMAC recognition thanks to her runner-up in the triple jump.
• Junior
Robyn Wilkes achieved a new program mark with a time of 25.76 in the 200 meters last April, classmate
Ashna Krishnamurthy owns the school record in the long jump with a leap of 17-feet, 2.75-inches, and senior
Angela Hagstrom is part of Babson records in the 4x100- and 4x400-meter relays set back in 2023.
• Corman (400m hurdles), Sicard (triple jump), Wilkes (100m, 200m) and Krishnamurthy (triple jump) all qualified for the New England Division III Championships along with junior
Brooke Jankowski (100m hurdles),
Julia Pike (100m hurdles) and
Chloe Clifford (800 meters).
ABOUT THE BABSON MEN
• The Beavers feature 20 returners from a team that finished a program-best third with a school-record 151 points at last year's NEWMAC Championships.
• In addition to the conference titles, Rodriguez (5,000m) and senior
Will Dean (decathlon) came in second in their respective events, while McDonough was part of a runner-up finish in the 4x100-meter relay last season.
• McDonough set program records in both the 100 meters (10.54) and 200 meters (21.80), Rodriguez reset his own school marks in the 5,000 meters (14:18.05) and 10,000 meters (29:43.61), and sophomore
Stratton Seymour achieved a program record with his time of 56.52 in the 400-meter hurdles last May.
• Senior
Julian Ivarra came in third in the 10,000 meters at the NEICAAA Championships to earn All-New England honors, while McDonough took seventh in the 100 meters to garner all-region accolades.
• Seven of the Beavers' 13 individuals that qualified for last year's New England Division III Championships are back this spring, a group that includes seniors
Jack Reynolds (triple jump) and
Harrison Prucher (110m hurdles) and sophomore
Gabe Rosenberg (110m hurdles) and
Almond Nickerson IV (3000m steeplechase).
POLL POSITION
• The Babson men were picked to finish fourth behind MIT, Springfield and WPI, while the Babson women were selected sixth in the NEWMAC preseason coaches' polls back in early March.
• The Babson men own four consecutive top-four finishes and have recorded their four highest point totals in program history over the last four years at the conference meet.
• On the women's side, the Beavers have placed fifth twice over the last four years while recording their two highest point totals in program history in 2023 and 2024.

• Babson will travel to Smithfield, R.I., for the Bryant Black and Gold Invitational on March 28-29.
