Track & Field at the Tufts Spring Invitational

WHAT TO KNOW
• The Babson men's and women's track & field teams travel to Medford for the Tufts Spring Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
• Friday's tentative schedule includes the first five events of the decathlon and four events of the heptathlon, beginning at 1 p.m., as well as field events hammer, javelin, pole vault and triple jump for both men and women and track events 1500 meters, 3000 meter steeplechase, 5000 meters and 10,000 meters. The remainder of the meet begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
LAST TIME AT TUFTS
• The Babson men finished in second place out of 17 teams and the women came in 11th out of 20 schools at the Tufts Snowflake Classic back on March 30, 2024.
• The men's team posted 11 top-four finishes and five regional qualifying marks. Junior Julian Ivarra '25 came in first in the 10,000-meters in a career-best 31:31.22, while Eric Bottern '24 won the shot put with a throw of 53-feet, 1.75-inches and placed in second in the hammer with a throw of 151-feet, 10-inches.
• Michael Agard '24 came in second with a time of 10.96 in the 100-meter dash. Gabe Rosenberg (15.89) and Harrison Prucher '25 (15.95) both qualified for the New England Championships with third and fourth-place finishes in the 110-meter hurdles.

Angela Hagstrom '25 captured first place in the women's 400 meters in a time of 1:01.74. Senior
Trista Sicard was the runner-up in the triple jump with a leap of 34-feet, 11-inches.
ABOUT THE BABSON MEN
• The Beavers won three events, set one program record and registered a pair of New England Regional automatic qualifying performances on the way to a fourth-place finish at the Coast Guard Invitational last Saturday in New London, Conn.

Cameron Mehallo broke the program record while winning the 400-meter hurdles with a regional qualifying time of 54.87 seconds, while sophomore
Jackson Adams was second in 55.28. First-year
Brady Kirtland took first place in the 110-meter hurdles with a regional qualifying time of 15.02 seconds.

Skyler Mott won the high jump by clearing 6-feet, 8.75 inches, and was second in the triple jump with a mark of 44-feet, 6.75-inches. Junior
Chris McDonough finished runner-up in the 100 meters in a season-best time of 10.96 seconds, and grad student
Diego Sanabria finished runner-up in the javelin with a throw of 172-feet, 11-inches.

ABOUT THE BABSON WOMEN
• The Beavers set a new school record in the 4x100-meter relay and recorded seven top-three finishes to highlight a fourth place at the Coast Guard Invitational last Saturday in New London, Conn.

PROGRAM RECORDS
• Mehallo's new record in the 400 hurdles (54.87) broke the time of 54.94 set by Bezanson last year at the MIT Sean Collier Invitational. The new women's record in the 4x100-meter relay (48.77) bettered the mark of 48:95 set by the same foursome at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational to open the season back on March 20.
• Mott has set a pair of program standards this spring in the high jump (6-feet, 9-75-inches) and the triple jump (46-feet, 2.75-inches).
TEAM RANKINGS
• The Babson women are ranked eighth and the men ninth this week in the East region by the US Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
• The women's 258.48 points are behind Tufts, MIT, Colby, Bowdoin, Bates, WPI, and Brandeis and ahead of Southern Maine and Keene State.
• The men's 260.71 points are behind Tufts, Bates, MIT, Colby, WPI, Bowdoin, UMass Dartmouth, and Southern Maine and ahead of 10th place Fitchburg State.
MEN'S EAST REGION LEADERS
• The Babson men have eight individual performances that rank in the top 10 in the NCAA east region this spring.
• Mott is first in the region in the high jump (6-feet, 9.75-inches) and third in the triple jump (46-feet, 2.75-inches). Sophomore
Nick Yacoub is first in the 10,000 meters (39:39.52), and the team of Mehallo, Bezanson, Smith and Adams is fourth in the 4x400-meter relay (3:23.14).
• Kirtland is ranked sixth in the 110-meter hurdles (15.02), Mehallo (54.87) and Adams (55.28) are ranked seventh and ninth in the 400-meter hurdles, Sanabria is ninth in the javelin (175-feet, 0-inches).
• Mott's performance in the high jump is ranked fourth in Division III, and Yacoub's time in the 10,000 meters is 20th.
WOMEN'S EAST REGION LEADERS
• The Babson women have 10 individual performances that rank in the top 10 in the NCAA east region this spring.
• Rehal is first in the region in the high jump (5-feet, 5.25-inches), Head is third in the high jump (5-feet, 3.25-inches) and eighth in the triple jump (35-feet, 5.25-inches), and Sicard is ninth in the triple jump (35-feet, 5-inches).
• On the track, the Beavers' 4x400 meter relay is fourth in the east (4:07.91) and the 4x100 meter relay is seventh (48.77). Jankowski (15.41) and Hart (15.52) are sixth and eighth respectively in the 100-meter hurdles, Hart (1:05.99) is ninth in the 400-meter hurdles, and senior
Alexandra Kirkpatrick (42:08.39) is 10th in the 10,000 meters.
