Women's Track & Field Places Nine on NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Team

MARLBOROUGH, Mass.—Nine Babson College women's track & field student-athletes were recognized for their success in the classroom when the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced its Academic All-Conference squad on Friday.

Juniors Colleen Corman (Quaker Hill, Conn.), Taijah Harvey (Concord, Mass.) and Maddie Stoltz (Somers, Conn.) received Academic All-Conference recognition for the second consecutive season while senior Alexandra Kirkpatrick (Middleborough, Mass.), junior Ariana Van Ormer (Aliquippa, Pa.), and sophomores Sophia Draxler (Chester, N.J.), Kate Henderson (Basking Ridge, N.J.), Brigid Kelly (Sandwich, Mass.) and Serena Thaker (South Windsor, Conn.) were honored for the first time.

Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale after the 2025 fall semester, achieved second-year academic status, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire semester.

Corman, a Business major, competed in six outdoors meets this spring for the Beavers, specializing in the 400-meter hurdles. She began the season with a time of 1:06.57 at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational on March 21; she ran a 1:06.53 to win the 400-meter hurdles at the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic on March 28; she finished sixth in the event at the NEWMAC Championships in a time of 1:06.73; she placed 12th at the Division III New Englands in a time of 1:06.50; and ran a career-best 1:06.13 to place eighth at the MIT Final Qualifier on May 14.

Harvey, an Accounting/Sustainability major, competed in three outdoor meets for the Beavers this spring, all in the 10,000 meters. She came in 12th place in her debut in a time of 41:55.42 at the Tufts Stampede on April 10; she ran a season-best time of 41:18.96 to finish 11th at the NEWMAC Champioinships on April 24; and she crossed the finish line in 42:22.72 to place 19th at the Division III New England Championships on May 1.

Stoltz, a Sports Management major, competed in five meets for the Beavers in 2025, with multiple events in all meets. She started with the 200 meters (31.30), long jump (13-feet, 6.25-inches) and javelin (93-feet, 1-inch) at the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic on March 28; she competed in the 100-meter hurdles (19.71), high jump (4-feet, 3.5-inches) and javelin (84-feet, 1-inch) at the Coast Guard Invitational on April 4; she registered 2296 points in the heptathlon at the Tufts Stampede on April 10-11; she competed in the 100-meter hurdles (18.73) and shot put (24-feet, 8.5-inches) at the MIT Sean Collier Invitational on April 18; and placed seventh in the heptathlon with 2882 points at the NEWMAC Championships on April 24-25, which included a career-best time of 18.58 in the 100-meter hurdles.

Kirkpatrick, a Business major, competed in three outdoor meets for the Beavers this spring, all in the 10,000 meters. She placed fourth in a time of 42:08.39 at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational on March 19; she ran a 42:08.63 to place 13th at the Tufts Stampede on April 10; and a 44:21.22 to finish 18th at the NEWMAC Championships on April 24. Her career-best time of 41:09.19 came at the Silfen Invitational at Connecticut College on April 11, 2025.

Van Ormer, a Business Administration major, did not compete in any outdoor events this spring. She ran a time of 2:40.14 in the indoor 800 meters at the Wheaton Post-Season Qualifier on February 21, and her career-best time of 2:34.00 in the 800 came in the MIT Sean Collier Invitational in April of 2025.

Draxler, a Business major, competed in four outdoor events for the Beavers this spring. She made her debut with a time of 5:06.74 in the 1500 meters at the Coast Guard Invitational on April 4; she ran a career-best 2:28.20 to place 12th in the 800 meters and a 5:10.73 in the 1500 at the Tufts Stampede on April 11; she crossed the line in 5:00.84 in the 1500 at the MIT Sean Collier Invitational on April 18; and she came in 10th place in the 1500 in 5:01.32 at the NEWMAC Championships on April 25.

Henderson, a Finance and Analytics major, competed in six meets as a javelin thrower for the Beavers this spring. She started the season with a mark of 102-feet, 3-inches to place second at the Coast Guard Invitational on April 4; she posted a mark of 108-feet, 4-inches to finish eighth at the Tufts Stampede on April 11; she came in seventh with a mark of 106-feet, 5-inches at the MIT Sean Collier Invitational on April 18; and she achieved a career-best mark of 109-feet, 8-inches, the fourth-best in program history, to place seventh at the NEWMAC Championships.

Kelly, an Accounting major, did not compete in any outdoor meets for the Beavers this spring. She set a program record in the hammer throw in 2025 with a mark of 111-feet, 9-inches at the MIT Season Collier Invitational on April 19, 2025, and placed 15th in the hammer at the 2025 NEWMAC Championships with a mark of 103-feet, 9-inches.

Thaker, a Business Administration major, competed in six meets this spring for the Beavers in the 200 and 400 meters. She made her season debut with a fifth place in the 400 in 1:03.28 and a first-place as a member of the 4x400-meter relay team (4:17.31) at the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic on March 28; she ran a 28.52 in the 200 and 1:02.41 in the 400 at the Coast Guard Invitational on April 4; she achieved career-best times in the 200 (27.53) and 400 (1:02.22) at the Tufts Stampede on April 11; she placed 22nd in the 200 (27.66) and 14th in the 400 (1:03.40) at the NEWMAC Championships on April 25.

The Beavers scored a program-best 72.5 points at this year's NEWMAC Championships and came in fifth place for the third time since 2021.
