BEND, Ore.—Sophomore
Julia Wiacek (Little Neck, N.Y.) and senior
Amelie Alkier (Collingwood, Ontario) recorded top-10 results in the slalom and the Babson College women's alpine ski team matched its highest finish in program history by coming in third in the combined standings in the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard National Championships (USCSA) at Mount Bachelor on Thursday afternoon.
The Beavers, who also finished third overall at nationals in 2022 and 2024 at Whiteface Mountain, came in behind Rocky Mountain, which captured its second consecutive national title and second-place Castleton.
The Green and White also placed fourth in the slalom with a time of 4:54.52 that was just under two seconds in back of third-place Castleton. Rocky Mountain finished first while Northern Michigan was second.
Wiacek was Babson's top finisher in the slalom posting a two-run time of 1:35.72 to place fifth, while Alkier joined her in earning All-America honors by coming in eighth with a time of 1:36.07. First-year
Camryn Knowlton (Montreal, Quebec) placed 29th with a time of 1:42.73 and sophomore
Sonnie Travis (Park City, Utah) was 51st in a time of 1:48.02.
Alkier, who finished ninth, and Wiacek, who placed 10th, also collected All-America accolades in the combined standings. Knowlton came in 19th in the combined standings, while Travis was 31st overall.
RACE NOTES
• Wiacek now has five All-America awards over the last two seasons, which includes finishing in the top 15 in the slalom and combined standings in back-to-back years.
• Alkier, who earned All-America laurels in the giant slalom and combined standings back in 2022, finishes her career with four All-America awards.
