Women's Alpine Ski Takes First in Slalom at Catamount Mountain

Beavers Close Regular Season with Third Consecutive Victory

EGREMONT, Mass.—First-year Sonnie Travis (Park City, Utah) recorded her first podium finish of the season to help the Babson College women's alpine ski team finish first in the slalom at Catamount Mountain on Sunday afternoon. 

The Beavers' top three finishers came in 1.22 seconds ahead of second-place Clarkson to post their third consecutive victory and fourth of the season. The Green and White placed second in the league standings for the second year in a row and fourth time since 2020. 

Travis finished two runs with a time of 1:51.66 to come in third overall, just 0.23 seconds ahead of senior Amelie Alkier (Collingwood, Ontario), who came in fourth in a time of 1:51.89. Fellow senior Alli Messier (Sherborn, Mass.) placed eighth with a two-run time of 1:55.39, while sophomore Ava Butler (Goshen, Conn.) secured ninth position with a time of 1:56.14. 

Babson returns to action next Saturday and Sunday when it travels to Carrabassett Valley, Maine, to compete in the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships at Sugarloaf Mountain.
