QUEENSBURY, N.Y.—Three competitors posted top-10 finishes to help the Babson College women's alpine ski team place second in the giant slalom at West Mountain on Saturday afternoon.
The Beavers finished 13.64 seconds behind first-place Castleton and recorded their fifth runner-up showing in seven races. UConn came in third, UMass was fourth and Clarkson came in fifth.
First-year
Camryn Knowlton (Montreal, Quebec) placed fifth among MacConnell Division skiers with a two-run time of 2:29.03. Senior
Amelie Alkier (Collingwood, Ontario) came in seventh with a time of 2:31.44 and sophomores
Ava Butler (Goshen, Conn.) and
Riley Jerome (Bethel, Maine) finished 10th and 11th, respectively, and were separated by just 0.05 seconds. Butler crossed the finish line in 2:35.80, while Jerome posted a time of 2:35.85.
Babson will wrap up the GS portion of its schedule on Sunday at 9 a.m. at West Mountain.
