Wednesday, October 22 | 3 p.m.
Field | Northampton, Mass.

SERIES HISTORY

•    Babson is 28-19-4 all-time against Smith in a series that dates back to 1982.
•    The Beavers have won five straight matches in the series and have lost just once over the last 19 contests (16-1-2) versus the Bears since 2006.
•    Nine of the last 11 games between the sides have been decided by a single goal or finished in a draw.
•    The Green and White has been victorious against Smith in its last 10 visits to Northampton since suffering a 3-0 loss back in 2003.

LAST MEETING
•    Sophomore Lillian McAughan scored her first collegiate goal in the 67th minute to help the Beavers defeat Smith, 1-0, on October 19, 2024, in Babson Park.
•    McAughan put away a loose ball to break the scoreless deadlock midway through the second half after sophomore Josie Lee hit the post in the first half for the Beavers, who got four saves from Nora Ryan '25 finished with a 19-10 edge in shots.
•    Karenna Kung had the Bears' best scoring chance of the day in the 53rd minute and Skylar Smith made seven saves in the loss.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    Babson (6-2-5, 5-1-1 NEWMAC) saw its four-game unbeaten streak come to an end in a 3-0 loss to No. 8 MIT on Saturday afternoon.
•    McAughan recorded the team's lone shot on goal in the 21st minute and first-year goalkeeper Maisie Creamer finished with four saves for the Beavers, who trailed 1-0 at halftime before conceding twice in the span of 2:06 early in the second half.
•    Josie Lee (4-2-10) has two goals and two assists in league play, first-year Izzy Lee (2-1-5) leads the team with two game-winning goals, and classmate Autumn Simon (1-2-4) is tied for the team lead in assists.
•    Junior goalkeeper Callahan Cottone (1-1-1) owns a 0.55 goals against average and a .889 save percentage in nine starts, senior Cleo Grignard (3-0-3) boasts a 0.50 goals against average and a .875 save percentage in seven appearances, and Creamer has gone 2-1-1 with a 1.03 goals against average and a .810 save percentage while starting the last four games.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
•    Smith (3-9-1, 2-5 NEWMAC) snapped a two-game skid with a 3-0 rout of Wheaton on Saturday afternoon.
•    Amelia Dion opened the scoring in the fifth minute, Una Keller added a goal in the 62nd minute and Kaleigh Quinn tacked on an insurance marker in the 79th minute for the Bears, who got five saves from Smith in their first road victory of the year.
•    Quinn (12-0-24) has erupted for six goals over the last four matches and is second in the NEWMAC in scoring, Keller (5-6-16) has scored in three straight games, and Jenna Marsh (4-4-12) is tied for seventh in the league in assists.
•    Smith has started all 13 games this fall and is 3-7-1 with a 1.89 goals against average and a .794 save percentage to go along with two shutouts.

POINTS RACE
•    After opening league play with five straight wins, the Green and White dropped five of six points last week with a 0-0 draw at Salve Regina and the loss to first-place MIT.
•    The Beavers enter the final four matches of the regular season just one point behind second-place Emerson and three points clear of fourth-place WPI, who it defeated in Worcester back on October 4.
•    Smith is sitting on six points through seven matches, which is just one behind Salve Regina for the eighth and final spot in November's conference tournament.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR
•    The Beavers are 2-0-2 on the road this fall against NEWMAC foes while not conceding a goal.
•    Babson has been shutout in back-to-back matches for the first time since playing to scoreless draws at Middlebury (October 13) and Emerson (October 18) last fall. The Green and White followed up those results with a 1-0 win over Smith in its next outing.
•    Despite the 3-0 loss to MIT over the weekend, the Beavers rank second in the NEWMAC with a 0.69 goals against average and has kept seven clean sheets in 13 matches on the year.

STRIKING LATE
•    Babson has notched seven of its 11 goals on the season in the second half, which includes scoring four times over the final 13 minutes of a match.
•    First-year Lindsay Cassady converted an 85th-minute penalty kick to deliver a 1-0 win at Mount Holyoke on October 11, Josie Lee and Izzy Lee both scored over the final 5:04 to help the Beavers defeat Coast Guard 2-1 on September 27, and Josie Lee notched the go-ahead goal in the 78th minute of Babson's 2-1 victory over Clark on October 8.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    The Beavers are 5-0-1 this fall and 12-0-3 over the last two seasons when scoring the opening goal of the game.
•    Babson is 14-1-4 in its last 19 games played on natural grass dating back to October 12 of last season.
•    The Green and White is 2-0-1 on the year when scoring at least two goals.
•    The Beavers are 6-1-4 this season when limiting their foes to one or fewer goals.

UP NEXT
•    Babson travels to Norton, Mass., for its regular season road finale against Wheaton on Saturday at 1 p.m.
