KANSAS CITY, Mo.—Three members of the Babson College women's soccer team were named to the United Soccer Coaches Region II team on Tuesday morning.
Junior
Caroline Sutherland (Millville, Mass.) was named to the all-region second team, while classmate
Priscilla-Rose Men-Martin (Rolling Hills Estates, Calif.) and sophomore
Josie Lee (Duxbury, Mass.) both earned a spot on the United Soccer Coaches Region II third team. All three players garnered all-region laurels for the first time in their respective careers.
Sutherland, who was the Beavers' first New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Defensive Player of the Year selection since 2011 last month, appeared in 16 matches and made 12 starts along the back line this fall. She helped the Green and White post eight shutouts while finishing fifth in Region II with a 0.89 goals against average, in addition to recording two game-winning goals and scoring three times in all for a career-best six points.
Sutherland has started 43 of 57 games over her first three seasons and has produced four goals and two assists for 10 points.
A two-time All-NEWMAC selection, Men-Martin started all 16 matches she appeared in as a defensive midfielder. She played the full 90 minutes six times and played a key role for a Babson defense that kept eight clean sheets and conceded more than one goal just once over its first 16 games.
Men-Martin has started 31 of 36 contests over the last two seasons and recorded a career-high 19 shots this fall.
Lee earned both all-conference and all-region recognition for the first time after starting all 18 matches and nearly doubling her scoring output as a rookie with six goals and three assists for a team-high 15 points. She recorded one game-winning tally and a pair of game-tying markers, and finished with 10 points on four goals and two assists against NEWMAC foes.
Lee has started 34 of 37 games over her first two seasons while contributing nine goals and five assists for 23 points.
Babson wrapped up the season at 8-5-5 overall after suffering a 3-1 loss to Wheaton in the NEWMAC Tournament quarterfinals.
