LAKE PLACID, N.Y.—Four competitors posted top-10 times as the Babson College women's alpine ski team finished second in the giant slalom at Whiteface Mountain on Saturday afternoon.
The Beavers' top three finishers came in just over 13 seconds behind Castleton, which came in first for the fifth time in six races this season. UMass placed third, while Clarkson took fourth place.
Sophomore
Julia Wiacek (Little Neck, N.Y.) was Babson's top finisher on the day coming in third with a two-run time of 2:08.92.
Sonnie Travis (Park City, Utah) came in seventh with a time of 2:13.25, senior
Amelie Alkier (Collingwood, Ontario) was eighth with a time of 2:14.62 and first-year
Camryn Knowlton (Montreal, Quebec) finished in ninth position with a time of 2:15.00.
Senior
Alli Messier (Sherborn, Mass.) came in 11th with a time of 2:16.87, while sophomore
Ava Butler (Goshen, Conn.) crossed the finish line in a time of 2:18.65 that was good for 13th place. Fellow sophomore
Riley Jerome (Bethel, Maine) placed 16th among league competitors with a time of 2:21.05.
Babson is back in action next Saturday and Sunday when it travels to Queensbury, N.Y., for giant slalom races at West Mountain.
