Men's Basketball Hosts No. 3 Trinity on Saturday

SERIES HISTORY

•    Babson is 3-7 all-time against Trinity in a series that dates back to 1984. 
•    Saturday's matchup is the first between the Beavers and Bantams since the 2015 NCAA Tournament and first in the regular season since 2009. 
•    Four of the last five games between the teams have been decided by seven points or fewer. 

LAST MEETING
•    John Wickey '15 scored a game-high 23 points and current associate head coach Joey Flannery '17 finished with 20 points and tied the game late in regulation as the Beavers defeated Trinity in overtime, 76-69, in an NCAA Tournament sectional final on March 14, 2015, in Babson Park. 
•    Matthew Droney '17, who hit the go-ahead three-pointer with 54 seconds left in OT, and Eric Dean '15 both added nine points for Babson, which overcame a seven-point deficit with 2:52 to go in regulation to advance to the Final Four for the first time in program history. 
•    Shay Ajayi scored 22 points on 8-of-13 shooting to go along with eight rebounds, while Jaquann Starks contributed 21 points and eight boards to lead the Bantams, who led by eight at halftime.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    Babson (6-4) has won three straight games and is coming off a 69-61 victory over No. 6 Wooster at the E.M. "Mose" Hole Classic in Ohio on Monday night. 
•    Senior Nate Amado poured in a game-high 24 points to go along with six rebounds, three assists and three steals, graduate student Felix Kloman added 16 points, three blocks and three steals, and classmate Alex Stoddard scored nine of his 11 points in the second half for the Beavers, who held the previously-unbeaten Fighting Scots to just 36.5 percent shooting. 
•    Kloman (18.9 pts, 4.1 reb, 1.8 blocks) is shooting 47.3 percent and has reached double figures in scoring in eight consecutive outings, Amado (17.2 pts, 8.1 reb, 3.2 ast, 1.6 stl) leads the team in rebounds and steals, and first-year Timmy Mulvey (10.0 pts, 3.2 ast) is shooting 46.4 percent from three-point range. 
•    The Green and White ranks 11th in Division III in adjusted efficiency margin according to The D3 Datacast and are averaging 1.08 points per possession on 44.4 percent shooting on the year. 

SCOUTING THE BANTAMS
•    No. 3 Trinity (11-0), which reached the Final Four last season, is coming off a 70-56 win over Suffolk in the championship game of its holiday tournament on Tuesday. 
•     Henry Vetter scored 22 points on 6-of-11 shooting and Jared Berry added 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting for the Bantams, who outscored the Rams 36-22 in the paint and pulled away over the final 10 minutes to record its 41st win over the last 43 games. 
•    Vetter (16.6 pts, 3.7 reb, 3.3 ast) leads the team in scoring and assists and is averaging 21.3 points over the last three games, Berry (10.5 pts, 2.7 reb) has scored in double figures in four straight games and is shooting 61.4 percent from the floor on the year, and Jarrel Okorougo (9.6 pts, 7.5 reb) has grabbed 18 offensive rebounds over the last six contests. 
•    Trinity is averaging 79.7 points on 45.3 percent shooting and ranks fourth in Division III in field goal percentage defense (34.6) and fifth in rebounding margin (+12.9). 

VETERAN IMPACT
•    Kloman was selected as the E.M. "Mose" Hole Classic MVP after averaging 19.0 points on 53.8 percent shooting to go along with 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.5 steals and 2.0 blocks, while Amado and Stoddard joined him on the all-tournament team. 
•    Amado contributed 18.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 3.0 assists, while Stoddard came off the bench to average 10.0 points on 8-of-17 shooting and 4.5 rebounds in wins over Case Western Reserve and Wooster. 

GETTING DEFENSIVE
•    After holding Case Western Reserve and Wooster to just 38.5 percent shooting, the Beavers are up to 17th in Division III in adjusted defense allowing 0.99 points per possession. 
•    Over its last six games, Babson has not allowed more than 64 points in a game and has held its opponents to just 0.89 points per possession and 37.4 percent shooting. 

EFFICIENT ON OFFENSE
•    Over its last three games, the Green and White is shooting 53.5 percent on two-point field goal attempts, which includes going 17-of-31 (54.8 percent) in the win over Wooster. 
•    Babson has shot 36 percent or better from three-point range in five of its last seven outings, which includes going 13-of-26 (50 percent) from long range versus Case Western Reserve. 
•    The Beavers have scored at least 1.05 points per possession in eight of their first 10 games and have turned the ball over on just 18 percent of their possessions this winter. 

TRENDS TO WATCH
•    Junior Timmy O'Toole has grabbed multiple offensive rebounds in 11 of his last 13 games going back to last season. 
•    Amado, who is one of just eight players in program history to score at least 1,200 points and grab at least 500 rebounds, has blocked 73 career shots and needs just two more to tie Brandley Jacks '18 for fourth on the program's all-time list. 
•    Mulvey ranks 19th in Division III in three-point field goal percentage (46.4)
•    Stoddard, who scored a career-high 18 points in last year's NESCAC Tournament final against Trinity while playing for Williams, is averaging 12.5 points on 45.9 percent shooting over his last four outings. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    The Beavers are 5-0 this winter when holding their opponents below 40 percent shooting.
•    Babson is 5-1 on the year when outrebounding its foes. 
•    The Green and White is 6-0 this season and has won eight consecutive games when giving up 63 points or fewer. 
•    Babson is 3-0 on the year when making at least 10 three-pointers.
